My sister, who is a vegetarian, is joining us on our next trip. I have looked at the menus and was wondering if Ohana's has enough vegetarian selections? All I could really see was the shrimp and stir-fry veggies.

I am sure some of you are wondering why these two restaurants because the atmosphere couldn't be any more different. I am trying to find a location near MK for dinner that would also appeal to my DD(10) and DS(6). Already have Crystal Palace & Chef Mickey's for other days.

Any help is more than appreciated!

I believe the chef will bring out a special meal for vegetarians there, but you'd have to ask.

If she eats shrimp, the ones at 'Ohana are really good. In addition to the stir-fry veggies, there's also a noodle dish, excellent salad, pineapple bread, and dessert.

When we ate at both places in 2006, 'Ohana had a giant tofu noodle bowl for vegetarians, in addition to the standard food. The vegetarian in our group wasn't a fan of tofu, so I think preferred 1900PF. I suspect most soy-eating vegetarians would prefer 'Ohana.

Our veggie is lacto-ovo; your pescatarian may have completely different preferences.

I'd say Ohana, our experience with people in our group that have allergies and some that are vegetarian has been great.

Since they have so many vegetables and non-meat items already in their menu, it's very easy to make special vegetarian requests.

O'hana is really great for meat lovers but I am a "pescatarian" so I ate the shrimp at O'hana and had enough to eat. Before you decide to go here, ask your sister if she'd enjoy peel-and-eat shrimp. I liked them but my dh peeled them, as the legs gross me out. Or, call ahead of arrival if you'd like a veggie dish made up. That way, your sister would be assured that there was something for her but she could still try the other offerings as they are served family style. The atmosphere was nice (ask to sit at or near a window if possible) and everything I had was tasty. Oh, BTW, the Bananas Foster bread pudding was excellent!!:goodvibes

As I remember it, 1900 Park Fare had salads, potatoes, veggies and salmon. The food here was okay, but I'd go mostly for the character interaction. Lady Tremaine and the Stepsisters were very entertaining. The little desserts were really good (I like dessert ;) ) ...and of course, the Grand Floridian is lovely.

I'd have you sister check out the menus online and tell you what she thinks. It's hard when you are limited by food restrictions, both by choice or for medical reasons. Sometimes having something on the menu that you "can" eat doesn't mean you'll like it.:sad2:

Good luck and have a great trip

Hi
I don't eat meat, and O'hana was really a lot better than 1900 Park Fare. We were just there in August, and if you don't care about the food and just want to see the characters at 1900 Park Fare, go there. The characters were so much fun, but there was hardly anything that I could eat. Even the pasta had a meat sauce on it. I think I only had a few salads and then desserts. At O'hana, there's so much more to eat, and the kids have a lot of fun with the dancing and doing the limbo.

'Ohana has a very nice salad and the noodles are excellent. If you will eat shrimp then you are all set. The best part is that you will have lots of room for extra helpings of the Bread Pudding al la mode.:rotfl2:

Thanks everyone--I will have her check out the menus. I figured that if either one was a possibility, then I would have her do her own research. She is not on the DIS (I wish she was!) and I don't want her to be overwhelmed.

As a vegetarian, I'd go with the buffet. Always more variety and unlimited so she can get her fill of what she wants. The AYCE places are too limiting for my tastes.

In the case where this is meat sauce on the pasta, just ask the server to ask the chef for an alternate sauce. We have done this countless times and have never had a problem. Most of the time the chef offered us a meatless marinara sauce and then added lots of veggies to make a wonderful pasta dish for us. :thumbsup2
