I'm a vegetarian and a universal newbie :rolleyes1 . I'm going next march with my family party: Will I find many veggie options?? :confused3 We are staying at either HRH or RP for 3 days after 3 nights at Disney.

I know the Beach Club (pool bar/grill) at HRH offers a veggie burger on their menu. It is pretty good. In the hotel sit down restaurants it should not be a problem getting a very nice vegetarian meal. Just read through the options and tell the server you would like a certain dish prepared without chicken, or whatever meat is in it.

For on the go dining, you may need a bit more planning. I know the Burger Digs at IOA has a veggie burger--I would imagine Richters at US does also since the menus are so similar. I really enjoy the cheese pizza at Louies at US and Cafe 4 at IOA. There is a nice place called Thunder Falls Terrrace at IOA and they had very tasty black beans when I was there--but must say I ate them with a chicken wrap--so can't vouch for other veg items on the menu at Thunder Falls.

If you eat seafood, the options open up a bit. I really enjoy the fish sandwich at Margaritaville--blackend, served with sour cream and guacamole. There are other seafood selections at M'ville as well.

Beverly Hills Boulangerie (Cheesecake Factory) also has a veggie sandwich.

Check out the book Vegetarian Walt Disney World and Greater Orlando, 2nd: The Essential Guide for the Health-Conscious Traveler by Susan Shumaker and Than Saffel. It has all sorts of good information on vegetarian and vegan foods at WDW, Universal, and all around Orlando. It was pulbished in 2003, so some things may be out of date.

Tinkerbell, I am a vegetarian and have never had a problem finding good eats at Universal. The Islands at RPR had some nice veggie (I think even vegan) options. And the PBH restaurants are mostly that good old vegetarian stand-by, Italian food. I've never eaten at the HRH. Within the parks, the sit-down restaurants all have at least one or two good veggie options. I especially liked Mythos (though I think there was only one veggie entree), Confisco Grille, and Lombards. With counter service you will probably want to look at the menu first or get stuck eating macaroni and cheese with french fries. The Enchanted Oak was my favorite counter service place. I have that book that was mentioned and I would say it's a little too out of date to be worth the price. I think you'd get more use out of looking up menus online. Enjoy your trip!

Enchanted Oak in IOA has a soup and salad plate with your choice of corn on the cob or baked potato. This was the first time we have ever eaten there, and found it to be a nice little counter service gem. Cool, shady, and comfortable there, and the food was really good!
