Hello have not visited Disney for 9 years. On my last visit I found it very difficult to get vegetarian food in the theme parks. Is this still the case or have things improved. If any one has any suggestions on where to eat they would be greatefully received.

Thanks

:cheer2:

I believe a noticed a vegetarian offering on most counter service menus.

We had lunch at the Columbia Harbor House (over near the Haunted Mansion in the MK). They offered a Hummus and Broccoli Slaw sandwich that was delicious.

The Tusker House in Animal Kingdom has a salmon entree (not sure if you eat fish) for lunch.

Citricos (a sit down restaurant) had a tofu entree that sounded really good. Artist Point also has always offered vegeterian options.

Your best bet would be to go to www.allearsnet.com and look at all the menus to see what they offer. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised this trip.

Much easier than 9 years ago, I can tell you that. I would start with the menus and see what restaurants you think you'd like to eat at. If they don't have something on the menu, they'll make a dish just for you.

The only tricky park is AK. The CS offerings at Tusker House and Flame Tree BBQ are rather pitiful, and so there's Pizzafari left. The Rainforest Cafe has veggie food, and hopefully soon the Yak and Yeti will have some good vegetarian Asian food.

My favorite restaurant on our last trip was Boma. Tons of vegetarian food.

There's a guidebook to help you out, too: http://www.amazon.com/Vegetarian-Disney-Greater-Orlando-Guides/dp/0967928001
Of course, ingredients change all the time, but it's a start.

We went in Sept. and had no issues. I had researched restaurants ahead of time on allearsnet.com and made ADRs accordingly. Thankfully, I did find quite the variety in vegetarian options from restaurant to restaurant (I cannot say the same for vegetarian children, buffets were our friend). For CS, I kept a list with me of which CS would work for us and just consulted it based on where we would be around lunchtime.

With a bit of planning it is quite doable :)

DD13 is a vegetarian, and had no trouble finding veggie food at any CS or TS restaurant. Sometimes at TS she did mention that she was a vegetarian, and then they brought her special food. Garden Grill in particular did a fantastic veggie pasta dish with pesto and really fresh steamed vegetables. (I snitched some!)

awesome! i'm glad to hear there are vegetarian options, how about for vegans? thanks again for doing all the research for me! hehe

Vegans have it tougher, that's for sure. Basically, you may need to call ahead at some TS restaurants and ask for special meals. Review the menus and see what they have; many already have vegan entrees as the veggie option, but not all. Some buffets, like Crystal Palace and Boma, have lots of vegan options. Veggie burgers at CS restaurants are vegan soy burgers, and at some CS locations (like Tangierine Cafe in Epcot and Columbia Harbour House in MK) they have other vegan choices.
