I thought I'd give you all my dining review so if you are vegetarian or planning on a vegetarian in your party this might help you out. We started on 6/26 and ended 7/2. We were on the dining plan, so keep that in mind if you're wondering what you can get with the plan. Please also keep in mind that I do eat dairy and eggs, I am not a vegan.

6/26/2005

for dinner we ate at Prime Time Cafe. for an appetizer I had the crusted cheese (not sure what kind of cheese but it was soft and delightful). This was very good! It came with some bread to spread the cheese on. For my main course I had the stuffed pepper. I was a little disappointed because the last time we visited (2 years ago) the pepper was amazing. This time there was no cheese, hardly any veggies inside, and the rice was a little tough. It was not the greatest, but I survived. It had some veggies in a tomato sauce on the outside of the dish. For dessert I had the snickers cheese cake. Very good!

For lunch we ate at the Sunshine seasons food court. They had a really good veggie "reuben" sandwich that had roasted veggies and some type of cheese. It was decent for a counter service meal (as most veggie options in disney world are). I also had a citris creme brulee which came as a surprise to me because the server said it was just 'creme brulee' so I wasn't expecting the citrus taste to it. It was still pretty good.

For dinner we ate at Spoodles. As an appetizer I had the mediteranian dips. They were excellent, they came with enough pita and dips to serve as a main course. But I did have the gnocci which was good with roasted vegetables and it was a bit spicey. I'd reccommend it but I was so stuffed from lunch and those dips that I didn't eat all of it. For dessert I had some sorbet. There didn't seem to be many desert options, but this was OK with me.

6/28/2005

For dinner we ate at Boma which was amazing. The butternut squash soup is beyond words. Everyone at my table enjoyed it. Please see my other thread HERE for a better description of how wonderful boma was.

7/1/2005

For lunch we ate at the ABC Commissary. They had a tebbouleh wrap which was really very good and flavorful. It had hummus in it also. I would definately recommend it to veggie diners. I also had the chocolate mousse which was REALLY good! Who knew you could get such good desserts from a counter restaurant!! My dad had the apple spice cake which he was really enjoying also!

For dinner we had teppenyaki. This place is such a nice place to go to! It's fun sitting with a new family (if yours doesn't take up the whole 'station'), and our server was very witty. I enjoyed him. As an appetizer I had the edimames, but I had trouble eating them because I felt improper opening them with my fingers, as the server suggested. I had the vegetables (obviously) which were VERY good, and the chef was very accomidating. He asked if I was vegetarian, and then asked if butter was OK to use on my dish. I said yes, and he made my dish before everyone elses, I'm sure he assumed I don't like my veggies cooked with meat, which was very nice of him. for dessert I had some chocolate ice cream.

For lunch we ate at Wolfgang Pucks Express in down town disney. It was pretty decent, I had the cheese quesidilla which had some type of ranch dressing on it. It was an unusual twist to the regular quesidilla. I also had the chocolate cake. I wanted the tirimisu but the server advised against it, so I stuck with her suggestion. She said the tirimisu is the only dessert not prepared in their kitchen, so it comes out after being thawed out, not that great. The chocolate cake was good anyhow.

For dinner we ate at the Sci Fi dine in. I had the spinach artichoke dip which was really good! I wanted more but ran out of chips! For my main course I had what they called a vegetable potato bake, which was shredded/baked potatos served on top of and under a lot of roasted zucchinis and portobello mushrooms. It was really good I really liked the potatos on it. For dessert I had the ice cream sundae which was SOOOO GOOOOOOOD! Oh man. That was a nice meal to end our stay, and my mom and dad REALLY enjoyed the theming of the restaurant.

I'd suggest pretty much any of these places, aside from prime time :( which is a shame because the first time I went their meal was AMAZING, this time i was not impressed at all. I would DEFINATELY reccommend Boma, what a great place, so accomidating to vegetarians. Thanks for reading, and I hope this helps everyone out a bit.

tricia.

I don't think of myself as "vegetarian"~more of a not-much-meat-eater! But your choices sounded really good. And for next time~the Vegetarian Platter at Tangierine Cafe (Morocco) is amazing!!! :flower:

OMG, ITA about the Prime Time's stuffed peppers. I had them in Sept 2003 and they were awesome...my favorite lunch of the entire 10-day trip. Then I went back Oct 2004...and it was different and not as good. It bummed me out because it was so delicious the first time...why did they have to mess with it????

As a fellow vegetarian, I really appreciate this thread. Always looking for new ideas for meals, especially when veggie burgers sightings are rare. THANKS!

Another vegetarian here :wave2: Thanks for the great reviews - I'm pleased to say that we have ADRs at several of the places you mentioned. I also had an excellent vegetarian meal at Sci Fi for lunch. Chef Ernie fixed something special for me with tofu. Also - FYI - if you want to try 50s Prime Time again because you like the atmosphere, they will fix a veggie burger no problem. It's not on the menu but they do have them.

Thanks again!

I can not thank you enough for this thread! I am going in Sept. with a very good friend who is a vegetarian. I am the "planner" and am trying to be considerate of her options. It's trickey because we also have some big meat eaters in the group (my husband was raised on a beef farm! :rotfl: ). Anyway...I scheduled Boma which I think everyone will enjoy and the Prime Time Cafe which I will warn her about ahead of time. The only real problem I see is that everyone wants to do the Hoop Dee Doo. I was told that we can call ahead and request a Vege meal. I HOPE IT's GOOD! I know she gets frusterated with the lack of Vege options around. She has a hard time understanding how so many in the world are "meat eaters". ;)

:worship: Thank you soooo much for your reviews!!! I'm definitely adding Boma to my list.

FYI if there are only one or two veggie options and they do not sound good to you ask to speak with a Chef. We have had some really amazing meals this way. The Chefs were always pleased to make us something special- they would ask us what we liked and most of the time come up with several ideas. Don't feel werid about asking, all the Chefs have mentioned how fun it is to be able to be creative (in response to our apologizing for being so much trouble :bitelip: ).

battricia----Thanks for the thread idea! I've had the Boursin Cheese at Prime Time and loved it! In May, 2004, my daughter and I shared the Stuffed Pepper, and truthfully I don't even remember if I liked it or not! I guess it was okay, or I would probably remember. Either that, or I just don't remember because I spent part of the meal with my nose against the wall! HAHA

I, too, LOVE Boma! I also got the "special" treatment there that you talked about on your other thread. I posted on that thread with a link to the pictures of the food Chef TJ made me if anyone wants to go have a look!
Here's the link:

I will be eating at Sci Fi in September. I've eaten there before but only got the spinach/artichoke dip which I agree was good! Since I'm on the free dining plan this time, I'm thinking of trying the Potato Bake. Only problem is I don't like mushrooms! Were they big enough to pick out? :p I'm not crazy about zucchini either, but think I can handle that.

Thanks for the suggestions at Sunshine Seasons and ABC Commissary. I was looking for new CS options to try!

GADISNEYGIRL----I agree about Tangierine Cafe in Morocco! I discovered the Veggie Platter for the first time last January and had to go back again the same week! YUM

eargal----I went to Hoop Dee Doo about 2 1/2 years ago and called ahead about the veggie options. I was given a choice of a pasta dish and I think 2 other entrees. Sorry, I don't remember what they were because I chose the pasta!

Forgot to mention, another CS meal I really like is the Wet Burrito (minus the meat, of course!) at Cantina de San Angel. It is huge and I usually share it with my vegetarian daughter!

I couldn't see the picture of Chef TJ's masterpiece, but I bet it was the same as he brought us. We are STILL talking about that and it's been 2 years.   Chef TJ.

I am not a vegetarian, but I don't like to eat TOO much meat. I got a really good veggie sandwich at Tusker House in AK for lunch one day a couple of weeks ago. :sunny:

Thanks for the reviews. I totally agree about Prime Time - I had the stuffed peppers in December, and I was very disappointed. That was the only veggie offering I haven't enjoyed at WDW though. Overall, WDW is a great place for a vegetarian to vacation! :)
