Vegetarian at San Angel Inn?

I made all my dining reservations and everything is looking alright for a vegetarian except San Angel Inn. I've been here several times before and it's one of my favorites, but was not a vegetarian for any of these visits.

The menu at allearsnet does not appear to have a single vegetarian item.

Does anyone have some suggestions?

Yes. Call 24 hours in advance and the chef will whip something yummy up for you. Disney chefs are very accomodating.

I think you might be able to get a dish prepared with cheese only instead of meat. It's certainly worth asking.

I'm a vegetarian and ate here last October. My friend and I split lunch. She got the tacos and I had cheese burritos. I know that they have a menu for vegetarians with two (I think) items on it. But you could ask to have something and just leave the meat out. That's what I did and they were very accommodating.

Ditto. Also, we were there last month. My DDs love bean (black or pinto, although they'll do refried if they have to) and cheese burritos. No where in sight on the kids menu, but our server said no problem.

I had cheese and black bean enchiladas there, and I enjoyed them. Just ask the server for the vegetarian menu!

I am a Vegan who was going to eat there and when I called and left a message a Chef called me back and acted like they could work with me on my Vegan Diet. A Vegan diet is a Vegetarian diet that can be way more extreme than other Vegetarian diets. So if they can take good care of me with my Vegan diet than I am sure you have nothing to worry about Remember I don't eat cheese and Mexican food has about as much Cheese in their food as they do meat.

I actually did not eat there as I went for the 1900 Park Fair instead But if I had eaten their I am sure they would have met my Vegan diet very well. I would call ahead and ask what they have that is Vegetarian and see if they can make you up something special. Many times if you call ahead they can and will get you some stuff. Maybe tell them some Veggie choices that you would like to eat and they may get it for you. Good Luck. Also by the way I do plan on eating their when I find the time, Suzy and Perla have a way of pulling me away from other eating places and pulling me into the 1900 Park Fair I am a little baby to Suzy and Perla ( they adopted me as their little 6 foot 3 child, since they are older than me I can always say that I am their little baby ) So when I go to DisneyWorld they want to see their little baby

The main reason why I became a Vegan was because I am an Animal Lover. I wanted to do more to help out the innocent animals that we share the planet with. Now some Native American's showed respect for the animals they ate by killing them in the most humane way that they could back then. And they gave thanks to the animal who died for them to eat. I happend to be someone who shows respect for animals by not eating them at all.

It's my belief that animal have rights. We all have are little opinions So I feel that an animal has a right to live. In my eyes Cows should not be hamburgers, milk machines, leather shoes ect. > I don't eat cheese because it has cows milk in it and I believe cows milk is for baby cows. I believe that baby cow has a right to their milk and I don't want to take that away from them. I don't look down on people who eat cheese I am just giving you my little opinion

So I am for animal rights. I believe that Rats and Mice have Rights so I don't buy products that where tested on animals. I believe that all animals have rights and I love and adore all living creatures. If I see a baby roach in my house I will take it outside because I don't want to kill it. I love that baby roach Just so you know roaches do scare me, but when I say I love and adore all living creatures what I am really saying is I don't want to see any living being suffer and I respect all life.

You see the cutesy animals are not the only animals that I love and I don't just love the cutesy animals because they are cute. Or to put it another way I love Rabbit's because they are so cute but that is not the only reason why I love them. I also love Rabbit's because they are living beings and I don't want to see a Rabbit suffer and I respect the life of a Rabbit. A roach is not what I would call a cutesy animal but I still love them because they are living beings and I don't want them to suffer and I respect the life of a roach.

Also another thing that I want to point out is that most animals used for meat,dairy and eggs don't have a wonderful life. A lot of people believe that these animals live in heaven and they see pictures of happy dairy cows ect. > But this is so not the case. Many of these animals suffer their whole lives. Most of the meat,dairy, and eggs that people eat comes from animals who lived in factory farms. I do not wish to post about the horrors of factory farms and the animal abuse that goes on behind closed doors so all I was say is that factory farms are a living nightmare for those animals and the suffering is so bad the many people would not wish it on their worst enemy.

Gone are the days when most animals raised for food where living on family owned farms where humans treated them with kindness. Now these family farms still exist but the problem is that factory farms have taken over. Now I don't even believe that animals should be raised for food even if they are well treated. But still I would much rather see food animals being raised on family owned farms than on factory farms.

Anyways I am not attacking anyone with this post I just wanted to express my views

We are vegetarians too, but have never eaten here because it didn't look veggie friendly. I am glad to hear we have options! Thanks for asking the question!

You will find that most of WDW has something for vegetarians, but it would be harder on a Vegan diet (but I do admire you vegans!).

If you go to MK, there is a great CS with Veg. Chili and a Veg. sandwich. It is the Columbia Harbor House next to Peter Pan's ride (across from the Haunted Mansion). This is our favorite CS!

I recently saw that the Electric Umbrella has Veg. Chili at Epcot, but we haven't tried it. I don't think they had it the last time we were there, so I am hoping that it is true on our upcoming trip.

Enjoy your meals! One of the reasons we LOVE WDW so much is because, as vegetarians we can relax and know that anywhere we want to eat, there will be something for us to order. On other vacations, we have gone to restaurants assuming there will be something, and we end up only with salad. WDW is a great place for vegetarians!

Just ask for the veggie menu. Someone posted it over on the reviews thread. It's basically two items: a salad and a combo platter. I had the combo platter, and I thought it was typical tex-mex style food. Nothing great, nothing terrible - just a lot of food! To be fair, this is my assessment of most mexican restaurants. I LOVE mexican food, but find most of the veggie food at them to be tasty, but not "stand-out".

Overall, I enjoyed this meal, but the setting has a lot to do with it. Just a beautiful setting. Plus, margaritas make everything better, don't they?

We've eaten vegetarian at San Angel. I think we had the combo platter from the vegetarian menu and something we just asked them to make up without meat. Both were good, and the atmosphere is nice, but it is crowded. (Haven't been there since the recent rehab, so I don't know if this has changed.)

We've had the veggie chili in Epcot on every trip -- always good.

Has anyone checked the ingredients recently?

One of the things I love about wdw is that they don't tell me, "oh yeah, it's vegetarian" when the rice was cooked in chicken stock.

However, the one time I asked about the black beans I had to push fairly hard to get them to check the ingredients and the list included lard.

(But, I love beans, so if someone knows that this has changed San Angel Inn may make my list for next year.)
