None of your categories were right for me so I didn't vote. You need an "other." :)

I prefer fresh most of the time, but use a lot of frozen as well especially during the winter.

We do use a few canned as well. I grew up on canned so I don't have the dislike of them that some people do. About the only canned we use are green beans, wax beans, tomatoes and peas. My favorite peas are Le Suere, they come in a can.

I didn't vote because there is no "other." ;)

I buy fresh or frozen carrots, broccoli or cauliflower; only canned green beans or beets; frozen or canned corn; only frozen peas.
"It depends on the veggie" would be my answer.

I chose fresh only, though I usually (and currently) have frozen peas on hand. I like fresh peas fine but the season is very limited. Fresh snow pea pods though, year round.

I've never had tinned peas. That just doesn't seem like it'd work well. I once had, for some reason I don't now recall, a tin of asparagus. The asparagus like, disintegrated and didn't smell or really look like asparagus. I don't think anyone tasted it.

I'm not familiar with the term "tinned". Is it regional? I get that you mean canned. I've just never heard things called that around here.

Fresh in season, frozen when not. NEVER canned. EVER. (ok, I do make a corn casserole that calls for canned corn and creamed corn- but I would never eat those outside of the casserole. YUCK.) (I also buy canned tomatoes and pinto beans/black beans/kidney beans....but those aren't stand alone type of things. They go in recipes).

This for me too.

I use only fresh or frozen green beans, and root vegetables.
I buy a lot of fresh salad stuff (well, raw anyway... not sure how fresh it is in Nova Scotia in January.)

But I use a lot of canned beans... the kind of beans that come either dried in a bag, or in a can. Black beans, kidney beans, navy beans, garbanzo beans/chick peas, split peas... this kind of stuff.

And a lot of canned tomatoes... stewed, paste, sauce, whole or diced.

And I've always got a few cans of corn (low salt, not creamed) in the pantry to throw into casseroles and soups when I feel like it.

I guess it depends....I prefer fresh except green peas, which I prefer frozen, unless they come straight from the garden...and I really like canned corn and can't stand it frozen..of curse fresh is best.

For canned we like.....
Green beans, corn, carrots

For frozen we like.....
Broccoli, cauliflower, chopped onions, chopped green peppers

For fresh we like.....
asparagus, corn, green beans, carrots

There might be more but this is what I can think of off the top of my head.

yep none of those worked for me.

I do a mixture of all three.

Depends on the recipie I'm using them for or whether I'm eating them straight, the vegtable as some are better in one form or the other, and the brand as in I'd eat this frozen if the only canned variety was this one or if I couldn't get fresh I'd eat it if it was this brand.

Always fresh.

My mother never served us a fresh vegetable my entire life (except potatoes). Mostly canned - a big reason I thought I hated vegetables. I literally never had a salad til I was in my 20s.

Now, I make sure to get 6-8 servings a day, all fresh. Still hate fruit though!

I voted No Preference, but I actually do have them, it just was not on your list. Here's mine in order:

Fresh
Frozen/Canned (it depends on the vegetable. Like potatoes, never in a can, frozen is an alternative we use, but say asparagus, canned/jarred is my second choice and we never get that frozen).

BUT fresh is always the first line of attack.

I use all 3 depending on the season. Right now its pretty limited in what I can get fresh. I am using frozen more right now because not only is it cheaper its easier to get.

I do use canned tomatoes and beans and try to keep a few cans on hand because I have to make funeral dinner casseroles for church and you have to use their recipes and they all call for canned veggies.

Fresh whenever possible, but I always have cans of green beans (prefer fresh), peas (for DBF and DD16), pickled beets (because I love them), corn (for taco nights) and black, kidney, pinto beans in the house. I do like frozen over canned but we eat so much fresh that the frozen will get freezer burn and be gross before we can eat them so I keep canned on hand.
As for green bean casserole, it's one of my absolute favorites, but only if I make it because I make it differently then the actual recipe. DBF's Mom had been making it but last year (2011) she said "If Kerri wants that green bean casserole stuff she has to bring it because no one likes it". LOL I said "OK, I'll make it, I'll make a double batch and I guarantee it will be 95% gone before we come home". So I made it, and everyone ate it and LOVED it! lol This year (2012) she said "please ask Kerri to bring her green bean casserole, I've been thinking of eating that for weeks". LOL I use fresh green beans and sharp cheddar cheese and it's so good, ooey, gooey and just good stuff!! I also use a whole can of french fried onions.
So fresh or canned is usually what we eat.

. My favorite peas are Le Suere, they come in a can.

You'd get along well with my wife. She will not eat fresh peas, or frozen, but give her a can of Le Suere peas, and she has a meal.

Fresh is my fav but I use any of them, depending on the use. If not fresh, frozen is normally second choice since I keep them in the freezer. However, if I'm making soup, I use canned kidney & black beans and corn.

The only time in the last 15 years that I have bought canned vegetables was when the kids needed them for "Stone Soup" at school. :lmao:

I do get canned black beans for DH's chili, or canned canneloni beans for my soup, if I'm not in the mood to make them.

Also, I get the Hunts Fire Roasted tomatoes for DH's chili. I use them for my spaghetti sauce too, but it's one can plus a box of crushed tomatoes (I can't think of the name--they are in a red and white box).

We use fresh, frozen and canned. We prefer fresh but for speed and convenience, we keep some canned and frozen on hand. Corn, we do mostly canned and frozen..except in summer when I feel like shucking corn on the cob. I'll do frozen broccoli as well, if I don't have fresh. Canned, we do green beans and peas...not a fan of fresh green beans. Used to think canned asparagus was the way to go, until I had fresh...mmmmm. Will make frozen french fries or sometimes fresh potatoes of some sort. We like to do salad and raw veggies a lot...do that more than anything.

I use all three; depends on the vegetable and the application...

Same. Prefer fresh peas, usually buy frozen, will not eat canned. Actually prefer canned green beans. Corn is all home grown, though frozen this time of year obviously. Also will not eat store bought tomatoes of the larger varieties - yuck. But canned tomatoes are handy for many things.

I most often use fresh vegetables and keep some frozen veggies on hand. I also keep canned vegetables on hand but probably only use 1 can per month.

By the way, I also hate fresh or frozen peas. Only canned peas for me. ;) (I do use frozen peas in recipes but for just eating peas, I prefer canned). I also think canned carrots taste better than fresh or frozen cooked.
