I have stayed on the strip, and looking for something less hectic, more umm..clean?? But, am I going to be disappointed with downtown? Is there enough to do? Good restaurants? Lots of casinos? Shows???

We are thinking of staying at Fitzgeralds - any comments on that??

Thank you!!

I personally like staying downtown, especially since they put in the "Freemont Street Experince" and made those few blocks into a mall-type deal. . .

But, while that section is very nice, if you go even a block in any direction from there, downtown is still pretty scuzzy. .

I've never stayed at Fitzgeralds, but I've been in there lots of times- it's been 5 years or so since the last time I was out there, and they may have redone it since, butwhile I always found it to be a nice, friendly place, it was a little bit "worn" if you know what I mean.

I'd recommend the Golden Nugget if you are staying downtown- or if you want something less hectic, off the trip, but still classy, I think the Rio is a great place. .

Good luck on your trip!!! :) :) :)

I agree with willyJ....Getting off the beaten path downtown isn't such a good idea. Rio or Palms would be a good alternative...Maybe the Hilton?

The Golden Nugget is the nicest place downtown. The seafood buffet at the Fremont was pretty good the last time we went.

Go play Blackjack at the Horseshoe. They have plenty of single and double deck tables.

I would also recommend the Golden Nugget if you're staying downtown. There's plenty of casinos and restaurants downtown, but if you are looking for shows and stuff like that, you'll probably be better off on the Strip. Are you renting a car? If so, then it won't matter where you're staying, because you can always quickly drive whereever you want. :)

Hi-

I go to Vegas at least twice a year. I always stay downtown. In fact, I'll be staying at Fitzgerald's from November 27- December 1. I go to gamble and you certainly can win better downtown. There are no real shows except the Fremont Street Experience laser show. The hotels are not fancy except for Golden Nugget. I would recommend staying there if you are looking for reasonably priced accomodations.

I've stayed at Fitzgeralds!!!!!!!!

In fact, it was the only time I have gone to Vegas... that being said, we didn't spend a lot of time in the room, but it was fine.

I think I was on the third floor, I was traveling alone, with a plane delay it was 3 am by myself!

The desk staff were very very nice, and it was a nice stay. I am a weird person, didn't gamble at all, but there were quite a few people doing it.

It was fine three years ago if that is helpful, and it was inexpensive too.
