The way things are planning out it seems we will be in Vegas during the Labor day weekend.

Reading this forum ive already adjusted our plans to travel there a day earlier on thursday and hopefully avoid the traffic jams out of LA.

I assume that Vegas when its busy is actually a bit more fun then when its not. Am i right with this assumption? We will mostly be seeing the sights and maybe visit a show or 2.

If not we can change our route and do it the other way around and head to San Diego first.

Busy weekends in Vegas are always a double edged sword. On the one hand having to fight the crowds to get drinks and get into clubs and bars or to get an available resevration at a restaurant sucks. On the other hand, I don't find it particularly fun when you go out to a bar, club, or any other social location where you're basically the only couple in the place.

Keep in mind, that it will be hot that weekend in Vegas and there will be a lot of travelers from Los Angeles so if you're driving, traffic can get as bad as turning a 5 hour trip into 8 hours or more. I know because we've been caught in that traffic before. Flying will also be busy but much easier than being stuck in bumper to bumper traffic for 8 hours. Also, make sure your car is up to being in bumper to bumper traffic for 8 hours because it will be in the hot desert of Vegas too.

Vegas is always fun but the traffic is definitely a buzz kill. Have fun.

If you are going back on Monday, leave really early, like 5 in the morning. If not, you will have a long day ahead of you!

Hot on Labor Day weekend is 110 or more. Become a nightowl that weekend. Go out in the late afternoon and evening times.
Make reservations for the shows you want to go to now so you aren't sold out.
Use lots of sunscreen at the pools.:beach:
Go knowing it will be crowded and you should be fine.
This last weekend Monday traffic was bumper to bumper for more thatn 30 miles. 5 hour trip turned into 10 for some people.
Try to travel in on Thursday and out on Tuesday to go to San Diego.
