In the thread about the new BOG menu, there was some discussion on what would be served to vegan or vegetarian/GF guests. I'm starting a new thread because the other thread is quite long.

I am vegetarian/GF and I called today to see what I'd be served because the menu doesn't have an option now. I was assured the chef would come out to talk to me and I'd be accommodated (I already knew this). I said because it's a $55 dinner, I'd like to know what exactly my option(s) would be. The very nice lady on the phone said she would transfer me to special diets.
Another very nice lady at special diets assured me I'd be accommodated, but couldn't offer me a clue as to what I might be eating. She said it's hard to say because everyone's dietary concerns are different. I kept pressing her, but at some point, you know the person doesn't have an answer.

So, I am still planning on keeping our reservations, and I guess I'll find out when I get there in a couple of weeks and report back. I will inquire about both vegetarian/GF and vegan options.

I’ll look for your update. I’m vegan but not GF. I have a dinner reservation in November but I’ve been mostly leaning towards canceling it because it doesn’t look like a good value for our family unfortunately.

Thanks for posting. Please do update us when you return.

And can I just say ugh! For $55 you would like to have a small clue on what you will be served. What if there is just one option and you hate it? Grrr

Maybe instead it will be a dream chef that makes magic. Wouldn’t that be a fairy tale

Hey,

The vegan dish is pasta. I've included a picture from the vegandisneyworld page (all credit to them!) In my opinion this is not worth the price, but at least you know now.

That seems like such a minuscule portion of food! No way that’s worth $55 or 2 dining credits!

I read that the Vegan option was good....but that is tiny for an entree at that cost!

That vegan dish appears to be the vegetarian dish without the cheese. The fact that they are both tortellini probably doesn't bode well for GF. It's possible they offer a GF version of the pasta, but if the dish doesn't appeal to you at all it might not be worth it.

I'd totally not think that's worth it. Matter of fact, now that it's changed, I've gone from maybe wanting dinner there to nope. Nothing sounds that great, and I never get dessert right after dinner (maybe like 3 hours later).

Exactly my thoughts. It does not appear to be GF, but it does appear to be somewhat gross looking. I'd also prefer to not have GF pasta because I eat a low-carb, primarily grain-free diet, although if that's all they have, obviously I have to eat and I realize on vacation I have to make adjustments to my diet. However, if it's a version of what was pictured, I'll probably be hungry an hour later.
For $55, they should be able to come up with something better for vegans. How about a nice tofu stir-fry or a Mediterranean dish with falafel and hummus? Geesh. So, still a mystery as to what the veg/GF option would be.I wish they'd kept the dish on the old menu.

Yes, on all counts! I honestly couldn't even get a hint of what I might have, even when I explained for the meal price I'd like some clue.
I will keep my fingers crossed for the fairy tale magic, but keep checking for lunch ressies opening just in case :)

If I was GF and vegan, I'd rather they make something like this dish...it looks like a $55 dish...http://www.onegreenplanet.org/vegan-recipe/boeuf-bourguignon-vegetalien/ (PS - the recipe includes the 1 sub to make it GF)...
Now, we're talking! Maybe I should bring this with me when I talk to the chef?
I do eat dairy, not much at home, but on vacation I will. I don't know why they can't make some type of zucchini or eggplant "pasta" dish with sauce. I had a couple versions on a cruise last March and it was awesome!
