VDH Questions for Purchasing

Any idea if the outside tables every have a long wait without MMB?

Also, I wonder if there will be tables in the shade like this around lunchtime in June or not. We are hoping to bring our Pizza Port food up here. I like sitting outside but not in the sun.
Probably not too often that the outside tables at Starview Station are fully occupied. As you can see from my pic, there were a lot of empty tables when I visited, but there were some other people outside. I'm not sure how different the sun angle will be for your summer trip vs. my late Jan / early Feb trip. One other time I visited it late afternoon (5ish), I was outside, and it was tough to find a spot in the shade.

I’ve been looking at 7 month VDH availability and am very grateful I chose VDH over Poly. While I won’t always go to California, I think having an 11 month window there is very important if you want to go even now and then for a longer trip than 5 days.
Im very glad I chose it too. I need priority at a California resort. Right now I dont think people are as privy to the accessible room trick and since its not sold out some higher availability is there, but I think this will change as time passes. I def dont want a future disneyland resort that is located farther like Pixar pier and I have no idea where they will put a new one, but I am very happy sticking to the classic!

This was my main reason for choosing VDH over Poly too. That 11 month priority, especially for rooms with balconies, is already looking like a must for VDH. With Poly, it’s not a big deal to me if I can’t get in at the 7 month mark since there are so many other options I love at WDW. I can always buy Poly on resale if I decide it’s important to me.
I have yet to stay in a balcony room, garden, duo or 1 bedroom! Im hoping one of the first three pop up for later this month. I dont think the preferred view is worth it without a balcony. But it sure is better than staring at whatever Is out there with the standard view 😅

I have also been contemplating if I should just go for 200 points, since I can’t use my resale contracts to fill in any extra points I may need on bigger trips. But yeah the incentives are not enough to compel me in making the 200 jump today.
Its sad but after the initial access to 150 points from borrowing and 2025 points is gone, 50 points isnt all that much and it just isnt enough to sway me at all. I like the plan of buying more resale and only using those 150 points at vdh only year after year and waiting for a riv blowout sale for more direct 🤣🤣

Do you know if you can wait in the terrace while waiting for an indoor seat? That option wasnt given to us and I didnt ask, but would be good to know

No regrets purchasing MMB anymore. The starview station lounge was packed today. Beautiful sunny day, so this seems like a preview of what the summer time will be like.

Less than 5 minute wait for us when there was 8 parties ahead of us. We love the lounge, its a great refresher to go on rides then relax there and then go again with coffees in hand! Loving being direct so much more.

I am so excited for the incentives to come out tomorrow. I dont think the ones for 200 were very enticing at vdh and perhaps they will be more this time around. All 450 points I have access to for vdh are already booked into reservations 🤣🤣

I know we would easily use the 200 points annually. Having all this resale wont do for that as it doesnt work there.

I was looking into resale vdh but it just seems like theres no point with how close it is to direct. I wouldnt mind resale there because I see our pattern of going every month. We already went this month and im trying to get end of this month again so we can go to a Ducks game 🤣 the extra 50 points would get us stays for the holidays this year.
I didn’t think I cared about the lounge perk of getting the Blue Card, but after my first visit to the Starview Lounge, I’ve changed my mind. It was pretty cool to take my sisters to an exclusive lounge at Disneyland! Now I need to get MMB. 😊

Yep! I think resale is going to be my plan for future points unless an amazing flash sale happens for direct. I will just keep those 150 VDH points for only VDH, and bank/borrow to save on those bigger trips.

I didnt think i would like it as much as I do! But hitting the first half of the park in the daytime and getting my freestyle and snacks then lounging for a bit and coming out again after a couple of hours for round 2 when night hits and they kick us out with our coffees really hits different 🤣🤣

Then knowing we have our hotel room on property to go back to after fireworks, I dont think I can ever go to parks and not be dvc again, officially spoiled 🤣🤣

I have yet to show off with family but that will be happening in April and I cant wait 🤣 I'll buy the family pizza port and bring it up like a VIP 🤣🤣

Resale vdh is still a bit too expensive for me to not consider going direct somewhere instead and I question whether it will go down much more.

I really believe it will hold strong being such a bargain against vgc as is. With that being said a savings is a savings and if im needing more points for vdh it is something to consider.

I just worry when more future resorts i like hit that 150 simply wont be enough for vdh AND future resorts and so I should have spent an extra $15-20 more per point and gone direct because im pretty sure thats gunna happen anyways at some point in my dvc career lol given that I have 590 resale already and think ill be good at 1k points, its time to balance the scale 🤣🤣🤣

If I really truly need a few more points in the future, I’ll probably buy another tiny direct contract. Like 50 or less. But right now my goal is to see how many years I can go without needing that. I actually suspect it could be a very long time!
Youre gunna cave with future beach club 🤣 Shoot maybe even LSL that new lazy river is a calling! 🤣

I've been watching (and booking) for VDH for this summer within the 7-month availability and was happy how many choices I had. But I'm planning on just 3-4 night trips. Currently I have a couple reservations for VDH as I sort out which date works best for me. There have been plenty of options for me since I'm not super picky on the dates and only want about a 3 night trip.

Ive been super happy with availability for short trips too, but I can see where longer would be tricky!

I’m the opposite: I need at least five days and I have to be picky on dates!

Well 200 points with these new incentives is $600 more so im out. $450 more for 150 points. As expected, incentives are worse this round. I will wait to see if theres a better Welcome home weeks sale or something down the line, but with needing less than 150 points direct for the future, this will drive me to resale before direct. Curious to see how sales go in the coming months and ofc need to wait and see what credits come out this round.

It just surprises me so much that vdh is cheaper than riv. Just tells me that vdh sales are not as stellar as they were probably expecting, especially hearing my guides happiness when we wanted to switch from poly to vdh. I wonder how much tot plays into this, it might be more significant than I thought as far as people choosing vdh or not. It still doesnt bother me.

My take on VDH selling less is that people don't stay at DLR as long as they stay at WDW. I like to stay about 3 nights at Disneyland but 7-8 at WDW. I think that is pretty close to average. So people need less points to stay at VDH and that means less points being sold. That is what stopped me from purchasing there right now. I only need around 65-75 points there. If others feel that way, they have to twice as many buyers to sell those points. I am pretty sure I'll end up buying at VDH in the future, but I'm not opposed to resale and it would be probably 75 points.

Its a theory, but vgc sells like crazy and is at dlr. I think they sold out of their points for sale this month in one day. I know vgc is closer to the parks, but I feel like if we saw the numbers, vdh wouldnt even come close to vgc and people are still staying a shorter amount of time at vgc.

Its just not as popular. Ofc vgc also has way less rooms. I really think its just tot and a farther location that is turning people off. I cant think of anything else. Thats what turns people off to akv (far location)

I know vgc is one of "the grands" and service and amenities are better, but I still feel like vdh should be doing better than it is. Ah and also restrictions. I wonder if restrictions are giving them the results theyre hoping for. Prices are still high and sales are good in Florida so it doesnt seem to be affecting them.
