VDH Points Chart is Live!

The WDW resorts went from 5 to 7 with the 2021 charts. So it has been done.

There is no reason they can’t decide to do that with VGC.
In that case my guess is that in the next year or two they will adjust the VGC chart to align with the VDH one and make basically every category a little higher at VGC.

There are probably 2 categories of rooms that fall under preferred. One is likely garden and the other theme park similar to how the boardwalk does its preferred rooms.
garden is separate and much pricier, you'll see it if you scroll to the last column on the right on the points chart. many believe it's the 2 floor standalone building right by the pool

Ah. I missed it since it wasn’t with the rest of the studios

I sure hope not, our yearly trip in Feb would increase 60 pts a week for the 2 bedroom. That makes a huge difference! I guess the question is can they really even do that since they would need to reduce the points elsewhere, since the total # of points needs to stay the same? Is VDH's total points per year less or the same as VGC?

Oh man that’s the perfect window for northeasterners to travel. School doesn’t start until after Labor Day in most of New England. Want.
Same for us up here in Canada. My kids always go back to school the day after Labour day so this is an interesting development for sure.

They can change the point charts to reflect more seasons. However, they can not change the nightly requirements more than 20% from year to year…that is why some reallocations take a few years to accomplish it.

They can make 7 seasons, but they can’t necessarily just make everything higher than VDH. The points are finite. If they add point in one place they have to take them away from somewhere else. So it may or may not work out like that…

Way too many, such a busy point chart, VGC only has 4 seasons

Its the same at WDW which means DVC is finally doing their job trying to spread demand.

DVC has lost the plot....what it the world could have compelled them to take the time, effort (and create the additional complexity/confusion) to bifurcate [Jun 1 - Aug 15] and [Mar 15 - Mar 23; Apr 1 - Apr 30] - the points differences are absurdly miniscule.

I am also very sad they've moved the week BEFORE Christmas into the highest points period.

You need that "small" change in points because it adds up to the precise number of points that are needed for the resort.

I was under the impression that if they raised points for some times of the year or some rooms, they basically had to lower it other times/other rooms. There's a set amount of points for the entire resort and that can't change over time. They can't suddenly make EVERY category/room type more points.

Is that not correct??

Total points are fixed so they can't just add more points to the system and make it a little higher.

Now more seasons can allow them to tweak for demand better though.

You are correct you can not just raise everything.

Now you could raise the point chart 300 days of the year as long as the lowering of the remaining days offsets that. That being said there has to be some reason behind the change that is to benefit balancing demand.

Example you can't lower Christmas day to 1 point and crank up other days because that makes no sense so even though its allowed it then is not allowed because it goes against their requirement to balance the demand with making changes.

With the $230 per point price....I am definitely glad I decided to go with a VGC resale for not much more. We don't get the extra "perks" since it's not direct, but I think getting the better (to me) hotel is the bigger perk. Glad I didn't wait around to see what VDH prices would be since the available VGC contracts for sale keep dropping.

That is correct..but they can account for calendar changes..for example, the declared points and what is sold is based on a base year with the minimum number of weekends..

In years where there are more of those or in a leap year, the point chart will have some extra.

But, if they raise somewhere it must go down elsewhere. Depending on the days in the season, it might not be as obvious.

And, as I said, they are limited to yearly changes for any one night to no more than 20%..so they can’t all of a sudden take a room that costs 20 points and make it 40..if can go as high as 24 and as low as 16 during that one change.
