VDH Opening

Yes it looks very bare with the chart, but if sales are going well, I am sure they will increase inventory. Also remember that if they bought a favorite week, that inventory is gone, if they had two contracts for week 52 in a one bedroom, how does that work if they just have one declared?

The key question -who's buying and paying? YOU. So as long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters. :lovestruc

I agree with this. There are a lot of people who don't like the Grand Californian and/or think it's too expensive but what they think doesn't effect how I feel about it. I'm super happy we got our resale contract.

I think VDH looks nice and I do plan to wander around over there sometime. I just know that my heart is with VGC. If I went several times a year, I'd maybe consider buying both just to switch it up but we don't go that often.

But that's the thing not every DVC or Disney property appeals to everyone. We stayed at the GCV last summer and it was okay, but I was underwhelmed and my family prefers the Disneyland Hotel. Why would I use so many points to stay at the Riviera when I can get a room at the Beach Club or Boardwalk for less? 🤷‍♀️

I think it's great that there are different types of resorts (on and off property) to suit different wants/likes. For me, Rivieria is just....blah. I feel that way about several WDW resorts actually. I do think a lot of the VDH haters are probably more WDW people than DLR people though.

Since I only have a resale contract, does that mean I won't even be able to see the availability calendar for VDH?

Could someone share the due’s breakdown? Very interested in where the high costs are compared to other resorts.

Someone mentioned on a post the Disneyland Forward (who knows if or when) would result in the Disneyland Hotel area being more smack in the middle of Disneyland. I had a look. Very interesting. Will see how this comes together over the next 10-20 years.

You’re way too optimistic. I’m gonna say more like 30 years

Pre pandemic I’d say yes, but I’m going to say in the next 10-12 years. They built California Adventure in 3 years. Once they get the ball rolling (and that’s key) it won’t take long. They’ve got 8 community meetings for it in the next 6 months and the city is having public review and hearing process.

Following the hit the city took after the pandemic economically, I think both Disney and Anaheim are eager to work together to find an equitable solution that benefits both and helps the city rebound financially. it’s definitely more likely to happen now than pre pandemic when the Anaheim city council was more combative with Disney.

Disney has already said they’re not asking for any private funding or tax incentives from the city. They’ve pledged to hire locally, diversity hiring, and unionized labor for construction.

Who knows though….Disney Long Beach never happened, but I think they’ve made this a win/win for Anaheim. Not the “ hey build us the $100 million Mickey and friends garage and lease it to us for $1 a year and let us keep all the parking proceeds” deal.

Even if it takes 20 years, that’s perfect timing for when we’ll probably be looking to sell our VDH points. Then it’ll be the DVC resort with a direct entrance to the new park. 😝
If there isn't a DisneyForward thread already, I say you copy & paste all this info & start one. ;)
