VDH Contract Length?

“Please pay no attention to Union Negotiations Please ?”

Because DVC is more important than food on the table or
castperson buying gasoline to get to work!

I think it is pretty important and will not forget that Disney returned to the negotiation table with not one cent Not one penny more to offer and is punishing them with fear that the retroactive pay will also be less than the amount theyjust rejected.
And the exact same day Universal Studios Orlando announced automatic $17 salary. Beginning June2023
Bravo USO

I am so upset with Disney I just went thru all my stuff to find all those cute Epcot Festival Food gift card bracelets I usually buy them and don’t use them…Well One of them has 7 cents … 7 Pennie’s and believe me I will not give that freely to Disney . I will use them at Starbucks hopefully …the least way to support Disney for now!
You might not care but I do
I don’t think the poster was telling people not to care about union negotiations or that he doesn’t care… I think the poster was saying Disney would want to deflect attention away from the union negotiations with other news (and the news the poster would hope for is getting rid of resale restrictions). That’s how I read it.

I dont think that resale restrictions will be a big deal on this property because most who buy here do so to stay there. Im pretty sure about 95% of owners at VGC use their points there . When the day comes that this sells out , the price of resale wont be affected like Riviera .

It is definitely going to be viewed differently with VDH…but, I am more interested in it because if they add them, it means it’s still part of their strategy and thus, increases the likelihood that Poly tower and future resorts will have them.

If they don’t implement them, then I bet we see RIV restrictions reversed. But, I am still 90% confident that restrictions are here to stay.

Maybe 40 years? If they go to low can they really say "lifetime" when talking about all the stays? I know its small and some people think Disney can do anything but I can see (especially in California) legal issues if they are selling the new tower for 20 years and try calling it a lifetime of memories or stays.

In the end I suspect it will be 50 as they have no real benefit from shortening it specific to this resort. Also with VGC at like 36 years they are sitting in a good spot where everything is spaced out. They could add one more DVC in possibly 2040ish right before all the 2042 contracts roll over and have the 3 DVC in Cali be "limited" and not on top of each other when they turn over in the future.

Not sure DVC and union news coverage overlap because right now we are 7 months out from opening and they are almost running behind with getting information out.

Bigger story if you care about food on the table and roof over the heads of CMs is likely the housing/rental market more so than labor talks because even if they match Universals $17/hr I think I heard on the recent DIS show that rent is like $3k/month. At $17/hr thats $3k for the month and $2500 after taxes and you should only spend 30% on housing so you have a $750 budget meaning you need 4 people in whatever size Ryno was talking about.
