Headed out on April 20 on the Magic. My sister is bringing her 15 mo old daughter. I know that our rooms (cat9) dont have vcrs? Can she bring one or rent one on board? thanks amy

Hi Amy! The only VCRs on the ship are in the Category 1-3 suites, and there are not any available for rental. I wouldn't bother trying to bring one along; aside from the fact I'm not sure you could hook it up, there are always Disney cartoons on the TV and plenty to entertain the little ones. :)

should i call the boat? im just asking because we are starting to get worried about janie, the baby. she watches particular shows and is going into some stage. my husband is bringing his laptop so we can watch dvds at night but her shows dont come on dvd yet...boo hoo..thanks a lot though!..amy

Although the rooms may not have VCR's they have one or two cartoon channels that play all disney cartoons, all day, even the movies like peter pan, etc. I'm sure there will be shows on that she will enjoy

havent read anything but is my husband allowed to bring his laptop to do stuff for work? i know i said a bad word ..heehee

He can bring his laptop, but he won't be able to use it to dial into anything. I haven't tried to use the in-room phone to connect to my laptop and I haven't heard that anyone else has, but even if you could make a physical connection, the charges would be something like $7.95 a minute for every minute.

They do have an Internet Cafe on deck 3 aft with several computers available and they're connected to the Internet by Satellite. If you're on a 7 day cruise, you can buy the unlimited use package for about $89 for the entire week. You can also use it on a per minute basis, which is less than $7.95.

They have AOL installed on the pcs and you can also just go to the Internet using Internet Explorer. For Email, if you don't use AOL, you can use any web based email account to send and receive from. Some examples of web based email accounts that are free would be Hotmail.com and Yahoo.com. He should make sure he can use it long before he boards the ship so that any problems can be solved and he can be familiar with it.

They also have an Email account that you can use, based on your cabin number and their pre-established domain, but it costs a couple dollars per minute also.

If he has to perform work that is application based and only installed on his laptop, it will be very expensive to use. In fact, I don't know if the phones in the cabins are analog or digital, and that's important to know before you try to hook up your pc.

Hope that helps.

ganurse: We took our 15 month old son last year on the Wonder and he was very into certain programs ( I think that is pretty normal at that age) like Teletubbies. We brought along our smaller VCR and my dh hooked it up fine. He took both RCA jacks and coaxiel but he can't remember which one it took to hook it up. We brought a couple of ds's video and this really helped. I am glad we did because my ds didn't like any of the Disney cartoons. By having his own videos it made him feel like there was still some part of his routine ( he watched them in the morning.) This also helped us when he napped because we brought a couple of movies for us. I must say they play the same things over and over on those tvs so I liked having something else to watch. BTW- We carried the vcr and cable in a backpack type thing and it wasn't a hassle at all.

Hopes this helps,

Naomi

i will post to my sister..thanks a lot..she will feel much better..surely they wouldnt confisgate it...amy
