VB/Sand in washing machine

Our VB stay was fantastic except for sand in the washing machine. I know it may sound crazy but our clothes came out loaded with it. Has anyone else experienced this or did we just get a machine that had been abused?Any advice on how to clean the tub. I wiped it out and ran it without laundry and that really didn't help. We always vacation at beach resorts with W/Dryers and have never had this happen.

We had the exact same problem on our last trip to Vero.
We called housekeeping and asked that it be cleaned. As they were cleaning they made a friendly comment that some folks are just inconsiderste to dry sandy clothes in the dryer.
-- They are right.

On a similar note, folks should never dry something without it first going through a wash cycle. I just think of my clean clothes tumbling in someone elses dirt...

Geesh! How much sand was there? It seems like it should wash out down the drain with the water! Sorry you had such a hassle!

Actually, in my situation it was in the dryer, so no washing away.
I'm sure someone came off the beach with a wet suit, and heaved it in the dryer without washing it.

They came with a vacuum thing, and it looked as though this was not their first time doing it...

I'm sure all that sand could gum up the works in the washer/dryers...

A few years ago, we kept having problems with your washer and the maitaince guys ended up replacing the washer/dryer unit... twice...

Eventually, we got a working one and were all set...

I was planning on posting this question this morning and this thread seems to be perfect for it!

Are there free w/d for guests staying on points? Where are they located? We'll be there in 2 weeks and will be staying in an ocean view inn room on points.

Yes - they are free for guests. They are located in the main building on one of the upper floors just to the right when you step off the elevator.
