Hey guys. Can you all weigh in on when VB and HH stop being the kind of vacations where you wear a swim suit all day and lounge around the beach?

Vero stays pretty warm year-round. In the winter months, it's possible to get a few days where the temps dip into 60's but they usually rebound pretty quickly. Even the water stays pretty warm in Vero because it is the start of the gulfstream right off its shores.

The "off season" in Vero is really summer. It used to be that very few people would head to Florida in the summer due to the heat. However, Disney's resort has proven to attract lots of folks in summer -- many tacking it onto a WDW trip.

I'm not an expert on HHI, but the winter months would seem to have the greatest chance of being nippy. I would think lying on the beach between November-March is probably not a big pastime.

We have been to HH in the off season. We went in January one year and had a blast. The weather was all over the place that week. We had 50's-low 70's. It is much like November weather in Chicago. We went swimming and used the hot tub a lot, even on the coldest days. The beach house was bare, but we did enjoy a stroll on the beach, and the kids played in the surf. We planned inside activities with the kids, and rented bikes for the week. We want to go back in Jan again and stay in a GV with just our family. The GV's at HH have fireplaces. A GV for 5 nights for 120pts is worth it to me even if the weather is chilly.

We have been during the christmas -new years holiday 5 times. Once it was 60ish and DS did swim in the resort pool. DH and I did do outdoor hot tub another time. We just loved the relaxing mode you are in there. Other years it has been in the 30-40's with gloves and jackets! Just can't guess. We walked the beach, played pool, shuffle board, shopped, mini-golf, cooked late morning breakfasts, did many of the planned activites for kids and parents(marsh exploration, ice cream making, campfire, goofy bingo, wildlife exploration of Pinckney Island, and others. It really is our vacation without the madness of WDW(which we do at least once a year and love!). Great restaurants on the island and great gold.
