I need a little help here please....

We have cash ressies at VB 8th-11th October. I finally called MS on Monday who told me that I would definitely NOT be able to stay at VB - would I like to change for later in October? I have flights from the UK - they can't be changed, so I asked if I could extend my stay at BCV (booked on points 11th -23rd). MS could not help, everywhere booked up....

So.....spent lots of time trying to find a suitable replacement (how could I replace VB?) and please my very disappointed DD3, DH and DM (first WDW trip)........

Finally, I managed to get a compromise - 3 nights in a 2 bedroom beach cottage at Treasure Island on Gulf Coast, right on the beach, pool etc. I did lots of research and SOLD my new plan to the folks! They were in.....

Now I read that VB will be open. Yippee!

But, what should I do? Cancel with the nice lady who helped me book one fo her cottages and lose a deposit and go to VB, or cancel VB and try something new on the Gulf Coast (including a Pirate Cruise with Captain Memo, my DD, DH and DM) and a visit to Johns Pass (never been before).

Arghh! I know you lovely people will help me reason this one out.....

PS. Feeling pretty guilty that I am fretting about where to stay when some Floridians are homeless.

I would go for the new experience and not lose your deposit.

I don't know much about Treasure Island in particular, but I've stayed on the Gulf Coast and I think the sunsets are spectacular and the beach is wide and filled with beautiful shells. I haven't swam much in the gulf. When we went to Ft. Meyers beach, there were loads of signs warning about rays and doing a "shuffle" to keep them away. Those signs kept me out of the water.

It would take a bad review for me to give up my deposit.

"Guilt" is a strange emotion. I have friends who live in Tarpon Springs Florida and they felt a sort of survivor's guilt when Charlie hit south of them and those poor people got the destruction that was "supposed" to come to them.

I hope you have a wonderful vacation!

Peace,

Bobbi:D

I have the same problem. We are booked for the same days you are at at Vero. MS said we could cancel and have our points restored, but like you found oout replacing ressies at this late date isn't easy, and there isn't much at Disney for those days. We like the west coast of FL, but our regular resort in St. Petersburg is fully booked. We searched for a new place to try and found one in Clearwater, but now MS says they are opening at the end of Sept. with full resort ammenities intact.

I would like to postpone Vero and go to the gulf coast, but my husband really wants to try it, so we are going. I posted on this board last night and those who responded encouraged me to go to Vero, and that it would be fine. So I guess we're going to Vero Oct 8-11.

Do you have any idea what you are doing?

Thanks,

Joanne

PS If you go to the gulf coast and you do the pirate ship thing, also check out the Sea Screamer which is docked right near the pirate boat. It is an awesome speedboat/dolphin watch ride. We've done it a few times and even my 74 year old mother loves it. Everyone I've ever recommended it to has loved it. Good Luck
