VB Beach House Question

Hello everyone,

My DW and I are considering treating my DF,DM, and DS to a beach house in Vero beach in July 0f 09. I was wondering if anybody out there knows how quickly the beach houses sell out in July. Do people have to make day by day reservations at the 11 month window? Or has someone been able to book them at the 7 month window? (we own at SS so we would be in the 7 month window category)

It's going to be hard to get a Beach Cottage at VB at 7 months out for July, unless you only want the Fri and Sat night.

I concur... maybe a Fri - Sat stay. Maybe. I have never tried so I am not an expert. Maybe lisareniff or bobbiwoz will see your post an offer some recent experience in this area.

I really don't know. I do agree the weekend nights will be much easier, but will be incredibly high points. It would be cheaper to reserve with cash and a member discount. We have to go during the high demand school breaks so purchased some VB points to get a BC during these times.

I have only heard of one or two DISers who were able to get a BC during the week at 7 months. I believe this was in the fall.

Ya never know until you try.

I tried to book a cottage for our upcoming Aug vacation at the 9 month window. The week I was going was a big NO but at that time the week after was available. It is a case of getting lucky.

With respect to booking at the 11 month window; we typically get a cottage for our Feb vacation and have had no issues book all at once at the 11 month window.

I called two days late at the 11 month window for mid June this year, and all six were booked. I've been on the wait list since with no luck.

When do you go in Feb? President's Week? This is nice to know if it is. It will take the pressure off. (..but may put more pressure on you since there will be one more family going after one of those 6 BC's).

First, I would like to thank everyone for your quick replies. It looks like we do not have much of a chance to get a Beach house during the summer but miracles have been known to happen. Maybe we will book at SSR and cross our fingers and waitlist for the beach house. I'll definitely let everyone know how it turns out.

Remember that there are only 6 of them!

We booked March inside the 7 month window and were put on a waitlist. Eventually, we got the call..... it was wonderful
