We just got a new computer so I am finally able to post some pictures from our trip to Vero Beach in June.

We were in a 1 bedroom villa in building 14 on the 3rd floor room #1440. I did not make any requests at all for this reservation and we got a great room with a great view of the ocean right in front of our balcony and when you looked off the side of the balcony you looked over the mini golf area and pool!

Here is a picture lookin up from the beach. You can see toe top of building 14 behind the 2 beach cottages. Someday I want to stay in 1 of those cottages!

It's not the greatest picture because it was dark and not sure how welll this one will turn out but here is a picture of the turtle we saw nesting on the beach right in front of the resort when we went for a walk on the beach one night. The turtle is the "lump" in front of and between the umbrellas. It was amazing to see! We watched her come up out of the ocean right in front of us, drag herself up the beach, buid her nest, lay her eggs and go back into the ocean.

Great pics Cheryl....thanks for sharing. Your view from your villa was fabulous !

Cheryl your pictures are AWESOME !!!:) I am really getting excited now, we will be checking in a week from today for our first trip to Vero

Thanks, Cheryl. I can't pick out the turtle (I really want to), but I am glad you had the opportunity to see it. Not many people get to see first hand the turtles laying eggs or hatchlings headed for the ocean.

Does this help?

I know it is grainier (if I get a chance, maybe I'll try to fine tune it), but you can locate the turtle and then scroll back to the original picture. If you are on a laptop or lcd screen, also try tilting the screen somewhat to change the visual contrast.

Yes, I can see it. Thanks.

I believe the agreement was that any latecomers would pay the same amount, and it would go to a charitable cause (saving the turtles, if I recall). If there is cash in the box(es) and/or we have more late additions, may I suggest that the last person provide a fruit arrangement or cookie platter or something similar for the CMs that have made this so successful? Of course, an additional tip is always nice, but I believe only certain CMs are permitted to accept them.

Just got back--we never even opened the umbrella box for Swap One, so I'm not sure what was in it (we had a Sharpie and tape with us to take care of the chair boxes) but we tipped the CM who brought the boxes out of storage and then put them back, and they readily accepted the tip.

Hi everyone! I'm not sure who has the chair swap going on that has been mentioned in the last couple of posts. I will be at Vero Oct. 13 to 20 and would like to be part of the chair swap, could someone please help me out?:)
thanks!

I have a chair swap going on...it is known as the "Third VB Swap" 'cause Starbox is running the first 2.
Those dates are open...it is $12.77. PM me if you are interested.

Thanks Pooh's Pixie I am definitely interested, but I guess because I only have a few posts, I'm not able to PM yet  what to do now?

I sent YOU a PM, Apparently that works!

I can't wait to go....yes, I bought site unseen (well I have seen from the web), I closed last Friday, so I am waiting to get in the system, and will make my first ressie. Vero Beach is a great alternative to the WDW. I think they will compliment each other very well, this is why I chose to add this one on. Just wish I had enough $$$ for that Beach Cottage! :goodvibes

Wow... I want to own at VB, but it is just not in the cards at this time... I am soooo jealous... VB is not just a great alternative.. it is a great place to stay every year. I know what you mean though... we go to WDW about once every 3-4 years. Yes, beach cottage... bliss (I am guessing). Guess we'll have to wait for Lisareniff's report. Lucky girl.

Not slamming VBR by any means, but if you can travel during off-season, you're better off buying at one of the WDW resorts and trading, as the VBR annual dues are considerably higher. Also if you ever think you might want to rent/trade your points, having an 11 month advantage at WDW will work greatly in your favor.

We own at BWV, and have traded out to VBR twice now, and are strongly considering doing so again next year. Because we can travel in the off-season, we can get whatever we want at the seven month mark, yet still have the 11 month advantage for booking holidays and Food & Wine Festival at WDW.

Thanks for your comments. I only bought 50 pts. CHEAP, so the extra $1.00/pt. in maintenace fees , say over Boardwalk, will be very neglible over time. I wanted to get the 11 mos. for the Ocean Front Inn, as we travel to the beach every summer. I use my Boardwalk pts. for trades, as I have a Hawaii search on now, as well as WDW visits. And hopefully for GCV soon. Here in the east, Ocean Front rentals are extremely high. This is a very affordable alternative. As Rob also knows! :wizard: Its nice to know I can plan for Vero every year.

My family is going to VB Oct 31st Mom, Dad DS, DB, SIL and my cousin. I bought sight unseen and I'm glad I did. :thumbsup2

We did this last time we were at VB, but DH took care of it and he has no idea where he got them.

Anyone else ever done this?

TIA

So when are the best times to visit to see the turtles nesting and then again to see the hatchlings? I know it goes on for several months but are certain times better than others?

We were there the second week of June and there was lots of turtle nesting activity - no hatchlings yet, but were told that they won't do organized (legal) walks at night once the hatchlings start emerging because it is too risky for them. There is not a good (or legal) way to see emerging live hatchlings, but during the season, there are morning walks to check on nests, and often times you'll be able to see little ones that did not quite make it.

As cute as they are, the hatchlings are much better off without people walking on the beach at night.
