We're already crazy... Here is how it works... the Beach cottages are basically on the beach. You have the best view and location possible... the OVIR rooms are in the hotel portion of the resort, but IMHO, have the best views possible. When you get to a 1bdrm, studio, 2 bdrm... the chances of having an ocean view are minimal. There is just so much vegetation that is likely you will only have a glimpse of the ocean at best...Still... VB is the best...

Thank you. I think I have it now! So how about another question:rolleyes1 ?!

I've seen several notes about no-see-ums when temps are above 70. I'm picturing needing long pants and long sleeves during summer and early fall as I'm sipping my coffe both early am and late pm. Please give me the complete truth on this matter.

Great info here everyone, thanks!!!
We have been lurking around these threads for months now...we are looking resale at this point, waiting for the right contract. VB appeals more to DH that there is somewhere else besides WDW, the info here has helped!!

How is the chair swap going? I am organizing one also and I was just wondering how this one is working out. Any problems at the resort holding the boxes? THANKS for any feedback. :)

Just returned!! Thank you so much for organising the chair swap, it worked out brilliantly! We have added a couple of buckets and spades and a snorkel and mask to the collection, so enjoy!
It was our first trip to Vero and we loved the resort, had an amazing one bedroom villa overlooking the ocean and would definitely return. The only down side was that I was bitten to death!!!!!!

Bitten by no-see'ums, or something else? Day or evening? Did you try using some sort of repellent?

I'm sorry that happened to you.

If you or Starbox is doing a chair swap next August, we will be there, probably 2nd week of August '08. My contract just passed ROFR, so won't get to ressie until probably end of September. So if your doing one then, keep me in mind. I would like to participate, I'll keep watch on these boards.:wizard:

We just got back from 3 nights at VB. I LOVED that place, a great end to a week at SSR. Dw & I rented a kayak and followed three loggerhead turtles, one came right up to the boat, we took our last picture with a watertight camera, I hope it comes out. We had a pool and ocean view in a studio in the Inn. We are going back for more fun in the sun. I got bit up also, but dodn't notice until the 19 hour drive home, (thank you Cortaid)

No-See-Ums... Well... if you are sipping your coffee on the lawn or on the grounds... then yes... they CAN be a problem.. They are worst in the dawn and dusk hours. The best experience says Cutter Advanced is your best friend.

Thanks for all the information!! We leave in 8 days for our first trip to Vero!!:goodvibes
I have a really silly question...do you need to pack towels for the beach? I assume you can't bring down the towels that are provided at the pool. Was just wondering because packing 5 beach towels will take alot of room up in a suitcase!! If I don't have to do that, I'll be grateful.

FYI-

The space shuttle is scheduled to launch tomorrow night. Make sure to check it out if you are in Vero.

The noseeums are really bad right now. I hate those things. I absolutely stay off the beach at dusk and dawn. Their bites are terribly itchy.

Hi there everyone,
We were in Vero from 8/3-8/6/07. We absolutely loved it there. Our room had an amazing view. The only problem we had was the chair swap. Some of the clerks had no idea what I was talking about. One clerk told me my name was not on the list at all. Needless to say I was disappointed! I finally found someone who could help me the next morning but told me I was only entitled to have the chairs/umbrella one day because someone else's name was on it the same time as mine. Now, I know this was not true and I wasn't about to argue and waste the short time I had there fighting, but I guess in the future I would not participate. By the way, the umbrella was in one storage room and the chairs were in another. There was NO LIST on the boxes that belonged to the chairs. Maybe I just got a bum deal but I do appreciate everything Starbox did. Otherwise, it's absolutely beautiful...Can't wait to go back. In fact we decided to only do the parks 1 or 2 days and spend the rest of vacation from now on at Vero. Much of the staff was very upbeat and friendly. Hope this is helpful to you guys.:hippie:

Oh no, that's not good to hear. We are on that swap list. And I think we are next. I hope our name is on it. We're there from the 16th to the 21st. Maybe I should call ahead of time?

I had asked this before, but got no response. Did you bring your own beach towels from home? Or are they providing you with some (like at the pool).

There are towels available for both the pool and beach.

 :scared1:  That should not have happened. People have been pretty good about updating me and letting me know that the swap is going smoothly - but someone almong the way must have let it slip and not returned the chairs and umbrella correctly. :sad1:

The packages are supposed to have lists and labels - any changes have been cent via. registered mail. I'll PM the next few swappers with a list and maybe they can get your group back on track.

And just a reminder to all swappers - we've been keeping it going since May and have swappers through October - so please work together to keep things organized and nice for those that come after you. :hippie: If there's ever a probelm or lost list - please PM me and I'll either PM or mail you a new one.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Starbox,
I still don't understand what had happened regarding the chairs, etc. I think maybe swap #1 and #2 got mixed up. Like I said the boxes had no list on them, one chair when I pulled it out had a sticker w/ swap#2 on it and the other chair had a little sticker w/ swap #1 on it. There was no mention of beach toys that had been donated as according to what the other disboarders had said they donated. If you guys only knew what the 1st half of our vacation had been like during our stay at Boardwalk and Saratoga resorts you would have assumed the BAD KARMA was still attached to us.
It started when I booked the trip w/member services months ago!
Anyway the ended up crediting us my stay at Saratoga as well as my brothers, and made good. Vero was the highlight!

There were plenty of towels to go around and YES you can bring them to the beach.

Starbox none of this was your fault. It was a great idea! You worked so hard on it. One woman behind the desk just explained that it's not run by them -they do it as a favor for us. So just be persistant and tell them TO CHECK BOTH STORAGE ROOMS for the stuff. As I said earlier, both the chairs and umbrellas were in different storage rooms.

Question: Has anyone visited Vero in March? What's the weather like and is the ocean really freezing?

Everyone have fun!
Danielle
