VB Adoration & Information Thread (Plus 2007 Chair Swap)

Well, there seem to be a few people interested. I would have to get info from starbox on how to go about this...I'm a Vero Beach virgin myself and never did a swap before.
Starbox, do you want to PM me with the details?

Anyone else interested in a 3rd swap, maybe just PM me also and I will see if we get a decent list going...Starbox, is there a "minimum # participants" for this to work?
THANKS!:)

There should not be a minimum as long as everyone is willing to split the cost. What I did was order the chairs/umbrella from Amazon and had them shipped directly to the resort (Amazon's prices were good and shipping was free this way). This also gave us boxes to pack everything in between swappers. Then, we split the cost between all the swappers. I think it was around $130 per group - but that was getting chairs that would last from May-October. You may be able to find bargains this late in the summer.

Maggie, TFFN and I will be there same time as you. We should all grab a drink in the Green Cabin room :goodvibes

The Green Cabin Room's raspberry Mojito gets two big :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 from me!

Starbox,
Did you also include an umbrella? And boogie boards? Can you send me a link to which chairs you bought? They sounds like everyone likes them.

Also, I assume you pass them to the next swapper through the resort desk. Did you just give them a list, or leave a list in the box, or what?
THANKS...you are the SWAP QUEEN!

In that case, we'll be ordering a couple of those! Last year it was the Pina Colava that we were sipping on. I guess the raspberry mojito will be this year's drink! :drinking1

THIRD SWAP: I have started a thread for a 3rd chair swap at VB. If you are interested, please see the other thread.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1509040

If there is enough interest to warrant the swap, I will order the chairs and get a list going. However, I would appreciate it if you let me know as soon as you can if you are travelling in August, since I am going on a non WDW vaca starting 7/14 and will not be around to order the chairs.
THANKS

I have one quick question. We just got back from out first Summer trip home and we are thinking that next year same time we would love to spend a week in Vero. What would out chances at the 7 month window be to book a studio or inn room from say June 26-July 3 and would you say a week there would be too long. Thanks for the help. :thumbsup2

Wondering the same thing!!!!!!!!

I really have read thru all of this and searched, but I'm just not getting it -- please help!

Can you get an ocean-view with a 2BR? I know in order to guarantee OV, I would need to book inn room ocean view, but if I book 2 BR is it possible to get an ocean view?

Secondly, if I book inn room ocean view and get there and they have availability in a 2BR (I know I'll have to go thru MS), can I change it by using more points at that time?

Just to note, there are only 3 of us so yes, we all fit in the inn room and would be just fine there. Just trying to get a grasp on all of this...

Thank you!

Could someone tell me which day is members day this year?

Thanks

PS - look at my countdown, that's how long we have left until we are at Vero :)

We have a 2 BR reserved for October and when I ask about an OV the MS person indicated that the dedicated 2 BR do not have OV. This will be our first trip to VB so I can only go with the MS advised me.

So does anything besides "innroomoceanview" have even the potential of an ocean view?! I'm not always 100% sure about what I hear from the Disney reps, and would really appreciate if some of the VB regs would weigh in on this. Thanks!!

Thank you!

We had a 2BR lockoff last week with an ocean view, rooms 1526 (studio)/1527 (1BR).

We also had a 2 bdrm lockoff - rooms 1436 (definitely) and 1437 (I think) - this was our view from the living room (hard to see the outside because it was so bright, but I think you can see the ocean)

and these were from the balcony (they're a bit crooked, haven't had time to straighten them yet!)

(this one was while looking more at the building across from ours than straight down to the beach)

It was wonderful looking out while eating breakfast on the balcony and seeing those gorgeous waters!

OK, I think I'm seeing a pattern here with the '26/36 and '27/37! I guess I'm trying to get an ocean-front view, rather than just an ocean view looking past vegetation and other buildings.

What building/units are closest to the sand? Is that the inn itself, so the ov-inn rooms have a direct ov, including the beach?

I hope I'm not driving y'all crazy trying to get this clarified. If you were standing on the beach looking at the building closest to the ocean, who would you be waving at on their balconies- the ov-inn rooms or is that just the beach cottages? And is there a floor that is better than another as far as view is concerned?

Thank you.

We're already crazy... Here is how it works... the Beach cottages are basically on the beach. You have the best view and location possible... the OVIR rooms are in the hotel portion of the resort, but IMHO, have the best views possible. When you get to a 1bdrm, studio, 2 bdrm... the chances of having an ocean view are minimal. There is just so much vegetation that is likely you will only have a glimpse of the ocean at best...Still... VB is the best...

The CM at MS was correct. I'm actually suprised he/she knew this. The Dedicated 2 BR's do not have an ocean view. (It's possible there may be one exception.) I'm not sure what the odds are of getting an OV in a 2 bedroom lock off but I think it is fairly low. Even with a lock off I would go with the expectation that you will not have a OV and be very happy if you get one.

Great pics! Now I have an idea how it is from the side rooms! I take it that you were on the top floor in the 2 bdrm closest to the ocean (similar to the one you took a picture)??

Southgal - take a look at a VB map, it may help you. There is on on the DIS home site.. http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/
Take a look at the villa buildings and realize even in front of the closer ocean front villa's there is a path, vegetation, and possibly a beach cottage. The upper floors may have a view but I don't think the first floor will. So just with that statement 1/3 of the villas will not have a view of the ocean. It is the luck of the draw. I wish you luck!
