VAT refund Barcelona to London

Hello,
Has anyone on this cruise leg arranged VAT customs refund stamp at Barcelona or last port in Spain since London is no longer in EU? Flying back out of London to US.

I did, at the Barcelona airport. It was super easy. There is an office there in the airport that does it. They spoke English. I chose an expedited payout for a fee.

You have to get the ship to create customs friendly receipts.

Then in barcelona airport head to the customs office to get it validated and paid back.

Be aware that there are regularly long lines at the airport for this service. waits of over 2 hours are common, but you might be lucky and only have a 30 minute wait.

All depends on how much you are claiming back as to whether you want to wait or not.

I had a similar situation as you and since I was at the ship port I thought the vat folks would be there to do the refunds that they do at the airport….nope! I was told the vat folks are not at the ports and to get the refund I’d have to go to the airport. Uh, nope. So I ended up paying the vat even tho I was eligible for the refund.
