We started flying Columbus to Orlando in 2000. Non stop tickets on Delta were usually in the $200 range. In 2001 (post 9/11) and 2002 we drove down instead of flying. About in 2003 we decided to fly again....but the rates were more---typically about $250 each.

So, I nearly fainted when I went to check on tickets for our Nov/December trip. They cheapest I could fine (on ANY airline) were $429 EACH!! YIKES!! I know we are flying out of Columbus the day before Thanksgiving, but even when I varied my dates so they didn't include those peak days, the fares were STILL high.

Then I heard that ticket prices might drop on the weekends, so on Saturday I rechecked delta.com. They were down to $270!!!!!!!!!!!!! So on Wednesday and Thursday they were no cheaper than $429, by Saturday they were $270!!! Crazy.

Now, one of our flights has to go through Cincy (instead of a direct flight) but the layover is only an hour or so.

Hope this info helps someone. :)
