vapour cigarettes

My SIL has recently quit smoking and is using one of these. My query is should she pack the device and the refills in her hand luggage or hold luggage? The refill bottles are under 100ml each. Many thanks.

The e-cig/e-shisha pen and batteries, assembled and placed in the clear liquids bag. The batteries should be in hand luggage and look a lot less questionable when full assembled apparently.

The e-Juice bottles can go into hold luggage. Recommendations are to use a tupperware container that seals to prevent them being crushed and leaking (the juice is toxic if it comes into contact with your skin).

A spare juice bottle/s can be placed in the plastic bag with the pens and other liquids.

Most places don't have an official policy on them, including airports and lounges but a healthy dose of common sense will go a long way.

The TSA has no official policy on them to date.

If he is not already aware, tests have proven that they will activate a smoke alarm so he's probably safer to sneak the vape in his seat and void the toilets on the plane

Just to add that so far the USA do not have a clear policy regarding the use of e-cigs in public places.

Cities like New-York and Los Angeles have recently banned the use of those e-cigs in public places, restaurants, parks, and so on.

I know it's not your question, but as a former heavy smoker (I've been smoke free since 2007 after 20 years of 3 packs of Mar***** a day) I will kindly say that I would still use the designated "smoking area" even with an e-cig as a courtesy to other guests. ($.02 here )

Take them in hand luggage though. I found out to my detriment two weeks ago that they don't sell them either in MAN or LHR - I ended up buying a Nicorette inhaler which doesn't omit any vapour to carry me through as I'd probably have been a gibbering wreck without nicotine to calm me down lol!!

That would have been awful.
I'm not really worried about being in the airport or on the long flights as I always got by fine and can't say I ever thought of smoking except when in the duty free shop collecting a stash of ciggies.

You can get nicotine free juice too. I really didn't notice a difference when switching to the 0%

FWIW if you fly through or to Canada they are illegal if not nicotine free (so I'm told)

Disney definitely enforces e cigs being confined to DSAs although there's no way they can stop you using them in your room. Tonight they'd be smelling caramel mocha. Mmmmm

I didn't believe it either. Ya gotta see it to believe it. It is only really in confined spaces so cubicles and small enclosed rooms with smoke detectors and little ventilation (plane toilets spring to mind)

I watched a test from on it a while back and was suitably stunned! But it's true. Mind you I had a smoke alarm on my landing that would go off if there was too much steam in the bathroom when you opened the door. Did my head in so I moved it.

When I worked off shore we had notices all around the cabins telling us to shut the door when having a shower as the steam from the shower would set off the smoke alarm. And after being called to muster on more than one occasion for exactly that reason I can assure you that it is true.

I did google this issue because I am reformed smoker with a vaporiser pen and I couldn't find anything to say it set the alarms off. I really can't believe it because it is not smoke and would barely qualify as steam. Not really an issue I can go all day without vaping now but I am struggling to believe this!

You never specified quantities, source, proximity, direction of flow - and now that we have thrown fruit into the mix I am even more intrigued (always keen to get my 5 a day - or is it 7 now, or 10????)
Either way I guess the only way we will ever know is when someone tries to join the e-cig equivalent of the mile high club and reports back. I'm looking forward to reading that trip report
