Vancouver Hotel under $200? Hotels.com? Need advice

That sounds like a great plan OP. I am glad everything worked out for you and hope you have a wonderful cruise. :)

If any of you on this thread are Vancouver veterans or residents, is there anything we should NOT miss in our one day in the city? We have all day Sunday to explore. Would love your opinions...

We're in a group of 14, 7 kids & 7 adults, but off on our own that day. My family is a 4 yr old boy, 10 & 12 yr old nature lover, sports loving, daredevil girls, hubby & me. What's the Must See in Vancouver?

It sounds like your part of the family is more adventureous so I would skip things like Granville Island, Robson street etc and go do the outdoor things like Stanley Park (walk the seawall, do the aquarium, swim in the outdoor pool right on the beach/seawall). And/or in North Van just across the water (bus or seabus accessible) Grouse Mountain, Capilano Suspension Bridge or the lesser-known but far superior Lynn Canyon park which also has a suspension bridge - but everything is FREE in that park (including the bridge) and there are amazing hikes there. To get to Lynn Canyon, take the seabus over and get the 229 Westlynn bus.

Hmm...
  • Well I think your Sunday morning will be repacking your luggage and getting a cab to the Pan Pacific for starters.
  • Once you do the early check-in at the Panny, I would walk outside and grab one of the free shuttles to Grouse Mountain for the late morning/early afternoon.
  • on the return trip.... a stop at the Capilano Suspension Bridge?
  • Stanley Park may be of interest if you have additional time if you started your day early.
  • does the group like gelato... Bella's is 2 blocks from the Pan Pacific, but the kids might like to try La Casa which features 218 flavours a short cab ride away from downtown.
  • any extra post-cruise time for Vancouver? There is so much more to do.
Have you thought about food? Vancouver is a city of immigrants.... various cuisines (especially the mysterious Orient) to explore as you eat your way across the city. Does the thought of Asian High Tea brunch interest you? Look for something called "Dim Sum".

Oh... does the idea of having breakfast with bears interest the family? Sorry, you can't feed the kids, spouse, or parents to the bear. The clan needs to be up early to get to Grouse by 8:30am if you want to try that after dropping off your luggage at the Panny at 7am.

Awesome Ideas!! Thank you both! So appreciate the tips...today the packing begins and I can NOT wait!
