Van rental

Hi I was hoping someone would be able to help me. We are driving from Columbus, Ohio to Disney in November 2015 for our first family vacation. There will be 5 adults 3 kids 8, 4, 1 1/2 3 adults can drive. We also have 2 motorized wheelchairs that we have a hitch carrier for. I know a 12 passenger van is going to be our best rental option but do any of them have hitches for our carrier or can I get a 15 passenger and take out the last row to load the wheelchairs. Thanks for any help.

You often need a commercial license to rent a 15 passenger van (they're BIG).

A one week rental of a 12 passenger van is probably about $1000 for a week around Thanksgiving in Columbus, with tax, without any discount.

I don't know if the vans ALWAYS come with a trailer hitch (even so, a usual ECV carrier only takes one- two would require a more substantial trailer.

Renting a couple of minivans might be a whole lot cheaper and give folks a bit more room (and more comfortable seats). Discount codes are more likely to be applicable to minivans than passenger vans.

We are renting a 12 passenger van for our November trip this year. We are renting 10 or 11 days from Budget because they have unlimited miles. The total cost is about $750, so start looking for deals early in the year. We are costco members so that's where we got our discount.

When we went to look at the van, the woman at the rental place showed us a 15 passenger van, and told us that the 12 passenger is the same size, just without the last row. So I would think you would have plenty of room in the back for luggage, IDK about the wheelchairs though. You could probably call and ask about a hitch for that purpose.

That was our experience the 12 passenger was the same size with the last row out. We put the special needs and luggage back there.
