Just got email from Disney. Advertised rate for Value Resorts in mid-June is $183 a night! Standard view, Sunday-Thursday nights. All I can say is WOW (and not in a good way!) :sad2: Guess we are going back to being an off-site family!

For Art of Animation, yes, but you can get the All-Stars for $130/night. Those prices are for rack rates. You can usually get discounts and deals to make it better, especially if you stack disney discounts on top of orbitz discounts.

Sure, but compare that to what you'd pay at Beach Club for a minute.

Value is relative.

Value is relative, but this was an advertisement for Value Resorts... and staying at a deluxe isn't on our radar, ever, LOL! The biggest splurge we've ever allowed ourselves was for DD's 21st birthday celebration; rented DVC points at BWV for $209 a night, standard view. Really enjoyed being on the Boardwalk, but I wouldn't pay for it regularly, even with DVC points, sales, and Orbitz discounts. Just can't afford it.

I guess I just find it funny/interesting that Disney advertises these rates as if they are "amazing, magical deals!" Yes, that's wording from the email. It's all perception, I guess.

Interesting...we got an email for a long weekend at Cabana Bay (Universal's value resort) and the rate was $75 per night (plus tax and resort fees). I remember when I could get Pop for around $80/night with AAA or other discounts pretty much anytime.

I got Pop for 78.00 a night this past August with AP discount, it was less than places around my little town. We were happy to add an extra day to our trip with that rate. I am sure it was the time of year and also you have to be AP holder but I was glad!

Definitely keep an eye out for discounts. A better deal will probably be on the way next year.

We really liked Cabana Bay! Just be aware that if you have a car, they charge for parking as well. I think it was either $12 or $14/day.

Universals resorts are cheaper, and you get more room for your $. They do charge for parking, but if you don't have a car, it's not an issue. The Universal resorts also provide shuttle service to Sea World and I think Wet & Wild.

Cabana Bay Beach resort rocks. Have stayed there twice, in the towers. Great rate and great place to stay. It's not far from WDW so you can enjoy both venues while saving a fortune compared to staying onsite WDW. Tower room sleeps 5. has small kitchen : sink, micro and fridge. and plenty of room. Awesome place to stay
