Value vs. Moderate?

Hi.

In December, myself and 3 other people are going to Disney World. There will be 2 couples all in the age range of 20-21. Two people are newbies while the others are experienced Disney-goers.

We are having trouble deciding whether or not we should get a value or moderate room. Having a fridge in the room would be nice, so staying in the value would cost $10 more per night for a fridge.

I've done the math and it costs about $65 more per person to stay at a moderate.

What I'm wondering is if it is really worth it?

Thanks.

i'm sure i have read values have a small charge per night for more than 2 adults in a room- you might want to check into th

I have stayed at pretty much all the resorts at WDW and in my opinion, while the moderates might be slightly nicer as far as theming and have maybe a few fewer kids, the only other advantage is a sit down restaurant.

I just recently stayed at All star music in a family suite and really enjoyed it. No problems with buses or anything.

Good luck!

I guess it would depend on how much wiggle room each of you have in your budget. So much of it boils down to that and personal preference.

I, would opt to stay at a value property most likely, just so I had the extra money to blow on pins in the park! LOL.

If you decide on a value, check out the Budget board for a Fridge swap for your dates. :thumbsup2 I think that the extra adult charge is for mods as well....and at a higher price.

I would definitely look into a frig swap for your days that deters the cost of the frig it is free in a swap! Also It may pay you stay stay at ASMU (No extra charge for extra adults in the suite and has a frig and a mini kitchenette))in a family suite the only thing is there is one room with a queen bed then there is a pull out couch and 2 pull out chairs or you could do 2 connecting rooms at any value resort but you would have to request this! It may work out to be just a s cheap! No matter which resort you stay at the extra adult rule applies! Unless you are in a family suite at asmu or a Villa which is a bit pricey!

In the early 20's, most people are on a fairly tight budget. Assuming that's true in this case, I'd get 2 value rooms to keep the cost down. I'm also assuming most of the "awake" hours will be spent in the parks rather than at the resort. I absolutely cannot imagine 2 adult couples sharing a bedroom, so 1 room for everyone would not even be considered in my world! Besides, adding the extra fees for the 2 extra adults plus having 4 people sharing 1 bathroom....it's nuts to NOT get the 2 separate rooms. What it boils down to is can both couple afford the increase for the moderate, and if so - is it worth it to them? If not, the values are perfectly fine.

Wait....are you all sharing a room either way? If the option is two value rooms vs. one mod room, I'd say go for two value rooms.

If you are all sharing one room no matter where you stay, I vote for the mod. I think the theming and grounds are much nicer at the mods, and I love the feel of them. The value rooms seem a little garish to me, plus they are noisy.

Would it be cheaper to do 2 values than 1 mod? We never really thought of that idea....

We are leaning towards one mod right now.

Thanks for all of the advice! =)

Well last trip we stayd at the POP and at POR and tyhe last was definetly better!! The service was completely different from one another and at POR we just felt more welcomed!!! You have to check for example if you have a family of 5 that wnats to say in the sme roo it would be cheaper at a moderate where some rooms can accomodate up to 5 guests!!!The structure in the moderate was also much better!!! The one thing that can be noticed is that the value ones are much more themed which is very attractive for kids!!!

I definetly think that the extra money is tottaly worth!!!

Ps; 2 years ago I stayed at All Star Sports and had a great experience and the service was really great as well!!! So I think that it all depends on the time you go and the cast members you have contact with!!!
