Wondering if there's a general school of thought here as to a tipping point when you feel compelled to upgrade from a Value (which we enjoy but tend to feel less so after 4 or 5 days as to lack of space) to a Mod.

ASMo standard booked for upcoming June trip for just DH & me. It's a 'bonus' trip and I had to book thru CRO since i'm out of points. must say I'm not happy with our promo price for room only, athough I noticed it's increased $140 in price since i originally booked it:scratchin

CBR rates have dropped to point where it's now approx $40 a day ($240 total) more than the price I booked for the value.

AP rates not out for our dates although the promo covers them, not sure they'll even be offered at this point. We were going to rent a car if staying at the Value so i could possibly eliminate it and hope for the best as to bus transport @ CBR. We've never stayed at there, prefering POR which is out of our price range for this trip, but think we'd enjoy the theme.

I'm surprised there is a dif in price between POR Riverside & CBR.
Everyone has a different tipping point. I'd switch to CBR. We stayed in Jamacia near quiet pool. Great location without paying preferred rate. Bus stop was very close, and one perk of Jamaica is that it's usually the first pick up, as its closest to bus/service entrance. We stayed there a few years ago, and had good bus service. They've since redone main pool, and I hear its very nice.

Keep a watch on Mousesavers.com for discounts, and the wdw web site.

sue - the difference between the two standard category mods is little over $250 for 6 days for the dates i've priced

I don't search often but don't recall seeing such discrepencies in pricing within the categories of the original three values and the mods, wasn't sure if it's the new norm or not:confused3

Personally, _I_ will (only) pay $20-30/day difference and only in the summer when I want my "quiet" pool with a deep end.

I am also surprised at the price difference between the two moderates. In the past I have seen POFQ be higher, but only because there were no discounted rooms.

For us last trip there was a $240 difference between POP with an upgrade from Quick svs- to the standard dining plan ..Free dining time) vs CBR
So of course we choose CBR.
We LOVED it!!
DS wants to stay at POP this time.
I’m rooting for CBR again!!

I tried to justify it by saying he will miss out on the CBR waterslides.
We will see who wins ☺

Keep in mind that of the Mods, only CBR still has the double beds. That made all the diff to my family. We loved POP, but once kids got older, we need the Queen beds. So we've done all the mods except CBR for that reason. We loved POR, and if the price diff is not that much, I'd go for POR, POFQ or CSR (hmm, that's the rest of the mods isn't it).

I personally am not a huge fan of the values and so 250.00 for the entire trip is totally reasonable to me. I would do it!

I really don't care what the $$$ spread is between the values and the mods. I'll pay the extra for the extra amenities and ambiance of the mods. Every. Time.

The queen beds are the deal breaker for us. :rolleyes1

CBR is very relaxed and the main pool s great. I would upgrade for that and a bigger room size.

I agree.

Nothing beats returning back to the gates of CBR and hearing "Welcome back to the Islands" :) It feels like being at an island resort!!!

That is strange. I do know POR & POFQ differ because POFQ only gets a measly 5% discount, but the rack rate is the same. We stayed at POFQ last time (has it only been a week since we returned?) because with the Stay,Play,Dine promo price was the same. For once FQ wasn't excluded!! And since we have had 3 stays at POR, I wanted to try FQ esp when I could get the same rate.

POR is our fav moderate, even more so since their recent renos. But we loved our stay at CBR too, esp those hammocks on the beach :goodvibes

With only two people in the room, I'd stay with the Value resort with the prices you have. We actually like the value resort bus service and food courts better overall than those at the Moderates we've stayed at (CBR, POR, CSR) and I'm all for saving money.

thanks for the comments. It's just DH & me otherwise a double would be out of the question, we like our space.;)

was looking for some sort of pricing mod as to 'sale' price ranges between the classes of resorts, surprised there's not a spreadsheet here somewhere with such world class planners!

Since prices have jumped around since I booked when the recent promo was issued, will keep checking jik there's more movement.

I agree the difference in price is worth every penny...

I hate to be Debbie Downer but I personally wouldn't want to stay at CBR without a car. The place is massive and with 7 bus stops if you're at a later stop buses are often standing room only, while from the earlier stops it can take 20+min on the bus before you even leave the resort for your destination. I enjoy the extra amenities of the moderate resorts but we've found the values to be much better from a bus-service perspective.

We had originally planned to stay value for our May trip, but when we ran the prices with the spring discount and found out POR was only about $300 more ($30/night) it was no contest. We love POR and found that a small price to pay. The theming, quiet pools, queen beds, and food make mods completely worth it for us. Also, DH doesn't really like the "in your face" theming of the values with the giant icons, etc. (although I really want to stay at AoA, personally!!) Caribbean Beach is on our list for a future trip. There are only two of us going, as well. :)

On another note, we then priced a deluxe and it was about $1500 more than POR (so $1800 more than value)...:lmao:I don't think that's going to be happening any time soon!

So I guess our "tipping point" would be somewhere between $300 and $1800...:lmao:

I've only ever stayed at moderates (CBR twice and CSR twice). The Deluxe resorts are out of my price range, and the value resorts don't appeal to me.

:)not sure how many days you have booked, ours is only 6 nights and it's currently not bookable under the promo @ $750.

Today when i checked promo prices, PORFQ standard was $1,257, 'only' $265 more than CBR; $407 more than current value pricing.

more interesting is that an AK standard (lowest priced deluxe) could be booked for $1,574...$317 more than PORFQ, $582 over the CBR & $724 more than value

the more i look the more confused i get;)

I completely feel your pain!

We haven't stayed at a value since our first family trip back in 2001. I'm planning a summer trip-7 nights-with just me and the kids (19 DD, 17 DD, and 10 DS), and I've booked POP! We've never stayed there, and I'm trying to keep it on a budget since DH isn't traveling with us. However, I could stay at CSR for $238 more. I keep wondering if I should just switch resorts. The only thing appealing to me about POP is that we've never stayed there. We stayed at CSR back in 2003, but DS has never stayed there, and the girls were young. So, what to do?

I just don't know...:headache:

Michelle ;) good thing we have a support group here! There's just too many choices clouding things lol.
