Hi all,
Please help me out.
I know I have read that some of the value studios have a savannah view.
I can't find it now, when I am looking for it.
Does anyone know where I have seen that, can link me to the thread. or quote it? Is it on DVC info somewhere?
Even better, if you know what room numbers, please tell us all.
I talked with DVC MS, and they didn't know, but seemed to agree that some do.
They suggested I call the Lodge front desk to find out, as they are right there everyday and would be most likely to know. I couldn't get anyone who knew what I was talking about, and they kept insisting I needed to book Savannah view.
I already have my value studio booked, and want to request the savannah view value studio. They said if I knew a room number to request, it would increase my chances of getting it.
Please help spread some magic.:worship:

Value studios at AKV Jambo House will have a view of the pool, parking lot or savanna. A view can be requested but will not be guaranteed.

There are a few savannah view value studios and they would be on the Ostrich Trail.

I don't know the room number, but I've had a savannah view value studio. It overlooked the sunset savannah. I've also had a pool view value studio.

Thank you. From the map I remember seeing, that is what I recall.
I wish I could find that map again, to find the room numbers.
Do you know where all the value studios are? As i Recall from that map, there are also some out on the ends.

Also look here for more ideas of the value locations.

Looking at the first map that Claire posted (http://www.parkinfo2go.com/dvc-akv/floor5.php), the Value rooms are located along the Giraffe and Ostrich trails, along the front of the resort.

As others have posted, when booking a Value room you can request a view but it is not guaranteed. Your possible views are Sunset Savanna, pool or parking lot. As you can see from the map the Dedicated Studios face the pool and Sunset Savanna so book a dedicated rather than a lockoff if you can. It won't guarantee a savanna view but should help you avoid a parking lot view.

this is great fyi... hopefully I get in a close to entrance AKV... not more for the view but for the distance.. not candidate for ecv but alot of dislocation in joints.. closer would be a big help...

So...the obvious question is: How bad is the parking lot view?

;)Thank you so much everyone. I booked back in Jan, for July check-in, and am pretty sure it is a lockoff. Should I waitlist for a dedicated?:dance3:

I'm not sure any DISers have gotten the parking lot view. And although my value studio last year was really a pool view, if I looked off to the right, I could see savannah (but no animals)-

Can someone tell me if they have heard of AKL value studios with a savannah view?

Yes, there are value studios with a Savannah view. I stayed in one in Jan. It was on the 5th floor right off the lobby, overlooking Kidanie. I don't remember the room number. Sorry.

thanks for posting that -- seems like a great view no matter which way you're looking

Not sure why I even care -- we'll be there in Feb. every year, and it's dark all evening.

Are there not any value 1 bedrooms on the 6th floor?

If not, then there seems to be only 10 Value 1 Bedrooms total.

We are booked in one and I haven't put in any request as of yet. Is it worth it to put in a savanna request? or just take our chances?

Does anyone have any pics of the 1 BR values? Search function doesn't seem to be working properly.

The 6th floor is all Concierge rooms.

The Value rooms are located along the Giraffe and Ostrich trails which run along the front of the building on both sides of the main entrance. Prior to the conversion, those AKL rooms were the only "standard size" rooms on the 5th floor. Most of the 5th floor rooms were the larger "deluxe size" rooms. When most of the 5th and all of the 6th floors of AKL were converted to AKVillas, those smaller rooms resulted in smaller villas so the "Value" booking category was created for them. Those are the only Value rooms at AKV. Kidani Village will have Standard View and Savanna View rooms but no Value or Concierge rooms. They are a real bargain but as you say, there aren't very many of them.

You could certainly ask MS to note your view preference on your reservation. It's not guaranteed but if you have a preference, you may as well let them know.

Thanks Lisa,

I think I will put in a request for a savanna view.

Are there 6th floor rooms above these value villas, or is the 5th the highest floor up on these trails? I can't remember.

We stayed in a studio standard view last November and I thought we had a wonderful pool view. I thought those rooms were a real bargain. I just love AKL and AKV.

Have there been pictures posted of the interior of the value rooms so that I could see how much of a difference in size it makes? Just curious.

The rooms on the 6th floor run along both sides of the lobby. None of the trails go up higher than the 5th floor.

There have been a couple of threads where someone posted some photos comparing a Value studio with a non-Value. The question came up again recently so if you skim through the thread listings in DVC Mousecellaneous, it's probably on one of the first few pages of listings.

The Value rooms are 3 feet shorter than the non-Values. The size difference is in the living/sleeping area of the Studio and the living room and master bedroom of the 1BR. In the studio, the Values do not have the storage bench that the non-Values have. In the 1BR, the Values do not have the sleeper chair in the living area that the non-Values have, so the occupancy of the Value 1BR/2BR is 4/8 instead of 5/9 for the non-Values.
