Please don't flame me for asking this.......

We are planning on going to Disney next year at this time. We REALLY REALLY want to stay onsite!!!!!!!!! The only thing we can afford is a value, and we can barely afford that (not very much of a value for $100 a night, in my books, but this is Disney) Thing is, we are a family of 5. Now, I know the values are only for four people, but we fit comfortably in those types of rooms!! Little brother sleeps on the floor, and the rest in the beds, and we're happy! Our usual vacation is in that type of room, anyways.

How mad would they be if we did have that extra person in the room, on the floor. I don't see how it could cause any trouble towards them, and it's either they let us do that, or we stay offsite. We don't plan on doing and EMH or anything like that. Just buying ParkHoppers at our Disney store.

What do you think??

The beds are doubles, but if you can handle that you should be fine. I would also not tell them about the extra child, because they wont put five in a room on a resv.

You also might want to check periodically on mousesavers.com and see if they offer any discounts that might help you with the room rates.

Edited for my complete and utter lack of reading comprehension.

If you can afford $100 a night I would go with a moderate. If you stay at PORiverside. They offer 2 double beds and you can request a trundle. Its slides right under the bed. We did this back in Sept'01. If they have rates next year like they do now you should get it for $85 a night plus tax.

Only thing about staying 5 to a room in a Value is they will only give you 4 keys to the room. I think if they knew about the other person they might either try to charge you or not allow you to stay there. But as they say "what you don't know can't hurt you".

Good luck
Shirley

Jen- I sent you a PM

Hopefully there will be some discounts for this time next year. If so you should be able to get the value resorts for aroun $69. If your youngest is under three then you are legal in the room. If codes do come out you could get a room at POR with the trundle bed that legally sleeps five for under the $100, this summer I believe the moderates were around $84. I personally wouldn't want to worry about getting caught with the extra person.

When are you going? With a discount code you might be able to get a moderate for around $85/night plus tax. Some of the Port Orleans Riverside rooms have a trundle that would sleep a young (I've read 9yo or younger, for an average size child) child. Then you could all have the room keys in case you decided to do the early opening, etc.

Personally, if I were not going to do early openings I would stay in a close off-site hotel in order to have a bigger room, maybe a breakfast included in the rate, etc. Having said that, I've only stayed offsite once, but it is something that you might want to think about more.

I just reread--you said this time next year. I believe that they did have discounts for August this year and you can check and see how much the moderates went for, etc.

My sister and BIL and their three kids stayed in one room at All Star Movies last fall. We had connecting rooms, so the plan was that one of my nephews would sleep with DS in our room since there were only two of us. It didn't quite work out that way, as they all wanted to sleep in the same room as their parents. They were very cramped in that little room. Luggage was everywhere, there wasn't room for all their clothes. It seriously looked like a tornado hit it. Luckily when the kids were ready in the morning they would play back and forth in our room so they weren't stepping on my sister and BIL. I'm not sure how old your kids are, but be forewarned, it will probably be very crowded with five people.

I personally can't imagine taking a vacation and making a child sleep on the floor, but that's just me.

I would check into the Downtown Disney Resorts. They have rooms that sleep 5 people and still be onsite.

Or get two rooms at Value Resort.

I advice is check hotelkingdom.com for hotels that sleep 5 comfortly and have plenty of room. Then check on Orlando and Attractions board the best and worst hotels list.

Also check tripadvisor.com for hotel reviews.

I honestly can't imagine anyone that does any bit of research paying $100 a night for a value at Disney, those are rack rates... If you can afford $100 a night, you will likely be able to get a moderate that will be bigger, nicer, and give you beds for 5. MUCH more comfortable. Most pay $49 or $69 for Values, I think...

Just be patient and really watch www.mousesavers.com and these baords for codes. It'll work out!

We're a family of 5 and have always gotten "legal" accomodations at Disney, but we routinely stayed in that kind of room at interstate hotels until the last couple years -- and that was with two teens! You need to do what YOU feel comfortable with. It IS against the rules -- will you feel comfortable doing it?As many people have mentioned, there's a good chance you'll be able to get Port Orleand for around $100 at night.

I want to point out that EMH is not tied to any kind of ticket. The only requirement is that you are an on-site guest. If you are going when crowds high or it's hot, I highly recommend you consider doing it.
