Value resorts for a couple without children?

We stayed at ASMo in the Toy Story section and found it very quiet in the room. The Fantasia pool was very crowded and one family insisted on splashing us even though it was clear that my son was timid about the water (parents did nothing about it). So we moved to the Mighty Ducks pool and it was much more laid back. If you stay at ASMo - I would suggest staying in Mighty Ducks or Herbie the Love Bug.

DH & I have stayed at all of the values. We would rather pay less to sleep and have more money to spend. We like ASMo the best as it is the smallest and the best theme. We usually stay at the values starting with the year that ASSp opened we stayed with the kids and it was fine. Then ASMu opened and we stayed there, didn't like it as much. Then ASMo opened and we stayed there. When Pop opened we stayed there, but our favorite is ASMo.

I have stayed in all of the All-Star resorts at one time or another. I have been going to WDW every year since 1990, some years twice a year. I have tried almost all of the value resorts, but obviously I haven't been in the Art of Animation resort yet.
It really depends on what time of year, (summer is extremely busy), but if you just want a place to rest your head at night they are great for the money. I've also stayed in the moderate resorts Carribean Beach etc and the rooms there are a little bigger. If money is an issue, I would definitely stay at the value resorts. The Pop Century seems to have a lot of kids groups every time we visited (cheer, football, Brazilian tour groups) and I'm sure the Art of Animation will be very crowded and noisy as it is new.
If you want quiet, the All-Star Music is the quietest. Good luck.

I love Pop!!! My dh?? Not so much. But, he's a deluxe kind of a guy!! He wants to stay at BWV and nowhere else. He didn't even like Kidani!!!! Go figure. It's more of a transportation issue than anything else.
I have never had a noisy stay at Pop. There are seldom any large groups there...they are usually over at the AllStars. My favorite area of Pop??? The backside of bldg 4, facing the lake (and now AoA!!). It is very quiet and about a 4 min walk to the main area!!

I don't really care about amenities. I was more or less just wondering if it was a bad experience (parents let their kids run screaming and running down the halls all hours of the night.) Thanks so much for your information and help.

My husband and I have stayed in the Pop and All Stars and have had great trips. We never had a problem with kids running around late at night. My only caveat would be that the decor of the room is kinda like crashing in a child's bedroom. I guess what I'm saying is that it really isn't a "romantic" environment for me.

You'll get problems like that at all the resorts, not just the value resorts.

Absolutely!! Worst stay ever, due to kids in the hallways??? Polynesian. It was miserable. There were kids that would run down the hall, both coming and going, and would bang on the walls and doors as they ran by. Then you would hear a parent scream...'Knock it off you guys...kids are trying to sleep in here!!!' Yeah, not anymore!!! It was especially bad if they were on their way to an early EMH morning or coming back from a very late evening EMH!!!
Never had that experience at either AllStar Music (and I was there at the same time as Pop Warner kids) or at Pop.

We were in the same area last September. I thought it was pretty much perfect. The only request i would make next time is to be on the top floor so I have a view of the lake rather than the trees.

I found it very quiet. There was only once or twice we heard much noise. One night was from people, I'm assuming checking out, at 4:00 a.m. I could hear them rolling by with their suitcases and they just happened to stop outside of our door (I was on the side of the bed by the door) and chat while they waited for the rest of their group but they didn't stay long and weren't overly noise, just talking. I also liked that the elevators were just around the corner but far enough away to not be noisy. Since we were so close to the elevators, I don't even think we were 4 minutes away. Half the time I didn't wait for the elevator and took the stairs instead.

Although we don't like the values, I have to say our worse experience with kids running around at all hours was at the Contemporary.

I've gone at all times of the year both with and without the kids. I love the values. My 2 cents would be to request a "quiet view room"... This is a room that is NOT facing one of the pool areas. It may look out on woods, or a parking lot depending on the resort and location. I have never gone wrong doing a room with the quiet view and have not had a noisy location even during the most crowded times. Including cheerleading worlds with hundreds of loud teenagers there. (one was mine...) and it was still as quiet as could be!

on the other hand about 4 years ago I requested a pool front room (with my kids) and was up every night till 2am with SCREAMING kids in the pool! ugh.... I just don't know where those parents are.... never again with the poolside room with our without the kids!

My friend and I have stayed at pop several times in December and January. We are in our late 40s and love it. I just can't justify spending more to stay at a mod or deluxe. We have stayed in tramp building each time but this time have requested preferred pool view. I don't know if we have done the right thing or not. I have hip issues so want to be close to food court and buses.

We have stayed at POP, POR and POLY. POP was my boyfriend's favorite resort and the one he wanted to go back to. So, we did two weeks at POP again in October 2011 and because there were just the two of us, the room was plenty big. We had a fantastic time!

We are a group of 4 adults staying at AoA this year. I am excited because the cost still makes it cheaper than any discounts we could have booked so far

As an AP holder I go to WDW several times a year. I've stayed in all four levels of resorts and normally go with a moderate each trip. However, I have stayed at Pop numerous times, AS Sports twice, and AS Music once. I have to say I am not a fan of the Values. Not necessarily because of the loud kids though (in fact the loudest room we've ever had was a savanna view over at AKL. We had the kid from h-e double hockey sticks next door that banged on the connecting door at all hours and ran up and down the hall screaming and banging on doors with is parents laughing at him.:sad2:) The Values just always seem busy and frantic. I prefer the more relaxed, laid back feeling of the moderates.

Any way to know WHEN groups like that would be there?? Not very intrested in sharing a floor w/100's of high schoolers. :scared: We are planning 11/1-11/6 at POP.

My DH and I have! We have stayed at POP and All Star Sports. I've also stayed at Music. We are putting DH through pharmacy school so we stay value to save the $ or we would probably decide against going.

We don't mind values. We are staying at sports for the 2nd time this summer. It's DH's favorite (he's a sports junkie) haha!

We tend to spend a lot of our time in the parks so we don't mind that the rooms are "smaller" and I personally don't feel like they are that small- maybe cause its just the two of us? I know that's a common complaint about the values.

I actually also prefer ASp but not for the theme. I love the theming of movies, but sports seems so much more relaxing. It seems smaller and quieter.

We have never new bothered by them including when we go swimming in the pools, etc.

We find them romantic... And we've gotten a king bed room everytime just by chance!

The only time we had an issue with noise from kids/crowds wasn't at a value, it was at a mod (CBR to be exact). It was April 2009, and we happened to be there during the Cheerleading/Dance World Championships. They left trash EVERYWHERE: trays at the bus stops with food and trash on them, on the seats there, on top of the trash cans instead of IN the trash cans. They also were practicing their routines all.the.time (even late at night) and we had to call the front desk several times for them to send someone out to tell them to go back to their rooms. It actually got so bad that Disney moved us for the last two nights of our stay to a different area of CBR because the cheerleaders weren't in that section.
Anyway, that was just a long way of saying there can be noise anywhere, not just the Values.

DH & I stayed at POP a few times BC (before child). IMHO, I am not a fan  but that being said, if my choice was stay at POP or stay home you would be seeing my smiling face at POP :thumbsup2

DH and I stayed at the Pop Century a bunch of times before we bought into DVC. We loved Pop and the fact that it didn't share buses with any other resort like the All Stars did. Plus, it is a short ride to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

If you can, try getting into AoA (since its new)! If not, then I'd definitely recommend the Pop Century

our last two nights.... and we had a "loud" family next door for a day. (either they left or turned mute after that) and :confused3 I don't get the big deal.... It was really fun having all of them around. As soon as I heard squeals of delight out our window at 7 in the morning I opened the window so we could see everyones smiling faces! As for all of the teens.... and there were HUNDREDS... it was a real treat seeing so many behaving so well at once.... :rotfl2: That's rare. Seriously they were all model teenagers... at the resort and even at the park... they'd even let us go ahead of all of them at the foodcourt and at the park for rides. Awww. In between the trip there was one night with NO ONE at the resort.... very creepy. We missed the cheerleaders...
