Value Resorts and Inside Staterooms? Bah Humbug! 30 days of Disney fun! 02/10 Day 30

As I posted on your other thread, I am too far behind to comment on everything. All I can say is that when Mark and I stay at the AKL in September, we are going to Earl of Sandwich TWICE. I can't believe we've missed it all these trips.

Don't worry, Kathy, you'll catch up soon enough! It was back to school for me today and I guess I won't have that much time to update anyway! ;) :lmao:

When you go to Earl of Sandwich, don't forget to visit my fellow countryman, Wolfgang Puck, too. :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:
Couldn't resist to advertise him here! :lmao:

Oh, I almost forgot they had that tour. What are hidden mortimers? Do they respresent something?

It's so nice that they gave you ponchos! How long was the tour?

I love the pin they gave you! It's so nice!

So would you recommend taking the tour? Since it's new I haven't found many reviews of it yet. It sounded interesting...but I need more DISer's to take it and report back before I will commit!

We love doing tours! And this one was brandnew then!

Hidden Mortimer: Remember that when Mickey was first "born", Walt wanted to call him Mortimer? Lilian changed the name to Mickey.
Hidden Mortimers are there to commemorate this early time in Mickey's life.

The tour took about 3 hours, started and ended at Epcot and visited Disney's Hollywood Studios and the MK.

You will get a pin at most tours, Yuki! The only one we didn't get one was the Mickey's Magical Milestones one and that tour was only $25,- I think!

So would you recommend taking the tour? Since it's new I haven't found many reviews of it yet. It sounded interesting...but I need more DISer's to take it and report back before I will commit!

It's very hard to recommend something if you don't know what that person is actually looking for ...... and from that perspective, let me tell you the following.

The tourguide we had was very knowledgeable and fun to listen to!
Would I recommend it ..... yes, but it would depend on which tours you have already done.
If you have been on the Keys to the Kingdom than there is not much new on the MK part. In our case .... the only new things we heard were answers to questions of guests.
If you have done the Backstage Magic ..... not too much new here either.

BUT there was a lot of new information when it came to Disney Hollywood Studios and Walt's early years in Hollywood.

Would I do it again ..... probably not. Says the woman who has been on the Keys to the Kingdom and Mickey's Magical Milestones twice! ;)

The tour sounds interesting. I really want to do a tour someday. We just never have enough time. Especially since I seem to be married to Scrooge McDuck lately, who thinks theres not alot to do. LOL!

Don't know how I missed you GF update !!The Cinderella Carriage is amazing !!That Fondue looked delish!!

Good Morning! :goodvibes

Oh no!! Okay, okay...time to admit.. I SKIMMED :guilty: and missed two wonderful events!! The Fairytale Wedding (lovely) and
Through Walt's Eyes" - one of tours I would really like to do.

Having worked for Disney, Keys to the Kingdom was fun, but not too informative as I'd had a longer Traditions Class than our Guide.;) I still enjoyed it it very much though.:thumbsup2

Thanks so much, Karin! :goodvibes

Just wanted to let you know that I actually did it!!!!!! I started my new pre-trip report for our summer vacation!

If your heart is in your DREAM ........

So bummed you need to move YOUR trip to May!

Don't know how I missed you GF update !!The Cinderella Carriage is amazing !!That Fondue looked delish!!

Rosie, missing an update happens to the best of us ........ just don't miss signing up for my new August/September pre-trippie! ;)
You're going to be a star in it! :lmao:

Good Morning! :goodvibes

Skimming is no big deal - you have found the updates now! :thumbsup2
And as far as the tours go ....... we had the most knowledgeable CM on our first Keys tour and I guess he spoiled us!
But I still love going on tours. On our second Keys tour the CM had to get some more stickers, as everyone was ralleying to know the most and earn a sticker! :rotfl2:

I enjoy the Tours too - it is a bit difficult to squeeze one in when visiting for just 4 ngts (which is my usual stay the last few years), so it has been awhile, but I'd love to the Through Walt's Eye's and would happily repeat Key for a third time. Each Guide is so different and good, but a great one is fabulous! :thumbsup2

:woohoo: PTR!!! :woohoo:

It's too bad you'd already heard most of the info on your tour, but at least you still enjoyed it!!!

Another trip?!?! Lucky you!!! Going over to read...

Great updates. Loving the dessert at GF cafe :teeth:

Looks like the tour was lots of fun, shame there wasn't much new to learn about, but still looked like a great tour all the same :) Love the Walt pins you get at the end, so cool :teeth:

More great updates Karin :goodvibes

The GFC looks really lovely and somewhere I think we will try for our October trip (just don't have the time in May!!)

We are going to be doing the Backstage Magic Tour in May which we are really looking forward to. I hope we get a good tour guide like the one you had

We just love to do the tours and get a peek behind the scenes. But I agree with you, they are quite time consuming and I wouldn't worry about them during a 4 day trip either.
All the guides are so different, and with some you just click, while others bore me to death! (Like the guide we had for the Christmas tour! :rolleyes1)

It's too bad you'd already heard most of the info on your tour, but at least you still enjoyed it!!!

Another trip?!?! Lucky you!!! Going over to read...

Kelly, Walt's my hero and I have read numerous books about him, so the rather basic info you sometimes get isn't any news to me, but there is always "something", like the Hidden Mortimers this time, or all the wartime memorabilia that you can find at DHS.

Great updates. Loving the dessert at GF cafe :teeth:

I want that dessert at the GF cafe right NOW!!! :rotfl2:
And as far as the tour goes, like I said to Kelly, I have read a lot of books about Walt, so I don't really expect that many "news". ;)
The tour was still fun and that was all that I expected from it! :thumbsup2

Thank you, Linda!
You should give the GFC a try, such a beautiful restaurant and the food is really good. The salmon was to die for! ;)

Oh, the Backstage Magic Tour. We did that a few years ago! It was great fun! I am sure you're gonna love it! :thumbsup2

Day 9, August 22

Seeing the parks through Walt’s eyes and another late night at the Magic Kingdom - Part 2

So we got into our car and drove over to the Polynesian resort to have some lunch.

We walked up to the kiosks and placed our order.

We ordered the Flatbread of the Day, which was pulled pork and

an Aloha Pork Sandwich, that came with Polynesian Chips. While our order was prepared, we got two Diet Cokes and our desserts.

Tom got a fruit cup and

IMG_6053.jpg

I had a pineapple cup. We walked over to the seating area and who should walk up than two of the people who were on the tour with us. They pretended not to know us, so we pretended not to know them either.

We sat there for a while eating our lunch and having a laugh because one of the chips really looked like a crown.

After we had finished our lunch we decided to hop over to the Magic Kingdom, but when we were out at the Monorail Station we could see that it was going to rain soon, so we just walked down to the car and drove back to Old Key West. We barely made it in the door before a storm broke.

It was raining cats and dogs and we were happy we had made the right decision in going back to Old Key West. I did a load of laundry

while Tom was working on the internet and then we just spent some time in front of the TV.

We snacked a little on the Muffin Sandwich and the Breadpudding

we still had from Earl of Sandwich.

After a few hours the rain stopped and by early evening we left our villa to drive over to the Polynesian Resort again for some dinner.

..sigh...seeing those photos I can just about smell the Polynesian. Be still my heart.

Loved this update...the Poly, that flatbread (soo hungry!), the chip crown was too funny and the pics of OKW make me want to move right in.:thumbsup2

:flower3:

Fun update. We had CS at the Poly for the first time this past trip. Got me a Dole Whip:) Good call on going back to the resort. I like the look of OKW.

Found your report a few days ago, it took a while but I am finally caught up! I am another one who doesn't like to post when I am really behind so I waited until now to comment. Looks like you guys had a great time, can't wait to hear more about the rest of your trip. It was really neat to see DLP pics as I had never been or seen many pics from there.
