question to all you on the value resorts... We are going in September and will be at the Pop Century (fortunate to get the AP rate all are raving for), and I was wanting to know if we carry our very small microwave could it be used in the room? We are going to ask for a fridge to be in our room but wanted to know about the other. We do not care to eat out much and will do alot of eating in the room. Thanks for your help. Also, we got a king size bed in our room and have an son that is going to be sleeping in his playpin. Will we be cramped? Thanks!!

my understanding is No you can bring your microwave. However there are ones in the food court for your use.

How about using the microwave at the food court?...

Last August we stayed at the ASMusic and had no trouble using the microwave at the food court to reheat food and is more convenient too.:D

I just want to reiterate what the others are saying. Please use the microwave in the food court. We'll be at POP in September too, and hope to not smell food cooking in the rooms.

If you write Disney, you will get a letter back saying cooking is not permissable in the rooms.

The foodcourt is nice and large, lots of seating and meant for cooking. They also have a toaster you can use.

some of the disney resorts you can rent a microwave but you would need to call and ask, i don't see how they can tell you not to bring one, from a legal view if it is not written as a restriction they might prefer you not, but you could if it is not stated

you should do what is most convient for yourslef and your family not for everyone else. People smell food cooking at their homes-do they tell the chef to go cook in the garage no

I would leave the microwave at home and use the food court one, but I also would bring a cooler and save the $10 a day for a tiny refrigerator.

.
We will be there in September as well.....I totally agree with DMRick.....please use the foodcourt, we smelled garlic in our room last year. Think of the other guests.

First, I agree - no microwave in the room. There are several in the PC food court and really they are ok for you to use. If you feel funny eating "your" food inside the food court, there are table and chairs right outside the food court.

We bought a collapsible cooler with us to keep our cold things cold. Every morning my hubby would go to the ice machine and fill it up. This was so much cheaper than the fridge.

Good luck planning.

From a safety stand point Disney does not allow "un-authorized" microwaves in the rooms.

The microwaves(and toasters) at the food court are at the beverage station near the seating area, so you do not even have to go into the food area.

Also paying $10/day for a fridge is quite costly - thus losing the $$ savings from the microwave, so I would also consider taking a cooler(or buying an inexpensive on at the store there).

How much time for meals in your room do you plan on having?

Yes, bring the microwave, and while you are at it, may as well bring the can opener, the blender, the toaster and the quesadilla maker (never know when you might be in the mood for one!). :D

I agree... leave the microwave at home!!!! We will be bringing a cooler with us (renting a fridge would wipe out the savings factor for us) and using the food court microwave at ASMo. There are some things my kids are picky about (ie.. hot dogs have to be all beef.... they didnt eat the ones we got at the food court last year) and my DD has to have microwave popcorn every night. I think that smell would definetly linger in a small, poorly ventilated room. We did bring a coffee pot last year, which was only plugged in during use (forgive me everyone). I understand wanting to save money by "eating in", so try to look for non perishable breakfast foods, and maybe some canned goods (dont forget the can opener). I would much rather eat my own food in the foodcourt than in my room anyway. The atmosphere at the food court is lots of fun!!!!!!

WORRY ABOUT THE FACT THAT THE OUTLETS ARE NOT MADE TO HANDLE A MICROWAVE... and you could start a fire! i would not mind smelling garlic as much as smelling smoke!

Thanks to all of you responding!!! I am now decided on what to do. I will call Disney before we come and ask them about maybe bringing a small coffee pot for our room because my husband has to have about 1/2 a pot in the am before he can get moving.... The microwave is going to stay home and we will bring one of the new coolers that can stay cold for several days. We are going to do lunch in the parks and breakfast and quick meals at the room. Like cereal and bagels and such for breakfast. And for quick lunches or suppers we can do PB&J or some other sandwich and then the snacks...... I agree that the cooler will save me 70.00 for the week and that will be cool to use for other things.

I really appreciate your feedback and thank you greatly!!!:earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy:

first aren't ya sorry you asked about the micro:) !

second if it's pack a play sized i would guess you should be cramped but able to manuever since it is a king, would be very crowded in a double...he just might have to sleep in the closet area:) in that one !

I had to chuckle at that one because my 4 year old daughter can not stand the smell of microwave popcorn....to the point where she will vomit if we make it in the house from the stink...I can just picture the people in the room next to us making it and the smell coming over...I will send her to the front of their door when she gets sick! One day my mom made popcorn at lunch time, we went over after dinner time and walked in the door and my daughter said "phew did someone make microwave popcorn in here!"
That stuff tastes alright but boy does it stink!

My gosh! It must but terrible for you and your daughter since micro popcorn seems to be everywhere these days. I can't imagine having to deal with throw-up every time I went to a friend's house who was making that type of popcorn. I wish you all the best with this VERY challenging issue. Threehearts

I agree with what a lot of people have posted---use the microwave at the food court and bring an ice chest, cooler for your room. You will save the fridge rental and can get free ice in the ice machines each morning. I always bring microwave pop corn and we go to the foodcourt with our refillable mugs and watch the people. Fun!
