Hi all, although I've gleaned a ton of useful info off of this site this is my first post. I searched for an answer to my question so please forgive me if I've missed it.

We're booked to stay at the Polynesian in Feb of 2019. Last night we decided to fly in a day early and thought we would stay at a Value resort for that first night as it will be a late arrival...this is the night of Feb 8.

To our surprise, ALL of the value resorts are completely booked up for that night. This was confirmed via a call to Disney.

Is this normal for almost 6 months out??? We chose this time period as we thought the parks wouldn't be too terribly crowded. Is there a special event going on Feb 8/9 that I'm seeing ??

Thanks in advance for any insight!

You could keep checking, or just book a night at the airport hotel. It is weird, for sure!

Yes it is definitely possible that they are completely booked.
Disney is NEVER not crowded anymore. Only more crowded or less crowded

Thanks, we booked a Moderate for now after checking prices for the airport Hyatt. I'm more concerned about the crowd level at the parks...

I think you just need to expect that it's going to be busy and plan accordingly. I've been 4 times in the past year and the only time I thought it wasn't crowded was last year in the few days right before Irma hit and they closed the parks. Otherwise, it's simply busy - sometimes busier than others, but always busy. My trip in Jan/Feb this year was the most crowded of my trips.

Try Expedia or a bookling website. We tried for Pop and couldn't find any reservations but when through expedia and they had it.

I just checked Disney's site, and AOA is available 2/8 - 2/15. Be sure to check for longer date ranges, because a 2/8 - 2/9 stay at AOA has a much higher room rate than 2/8 - 2/15.

I was checking for the week of February 2-9 over a month ago and it showed no values as being available at all! I think there must be a large group booking at that time...needless to say, we picked a different week! ;)

Their six week break is over before 2/8.

The national paint/coatings convention is that week at the Coronado.

Brazil, yes, but not Argentina-Feb is a HUGE month for the Argentina 15.:)

YUP, country one goes back that early but country two does not. They have until almost the end of February. Then there are a couple smaller country groups that have in to March.

Figures. Our SA friends are from Chile and Peru and had six weeks starting the week before xmas.

I wish the US would move to two 6 week breaks instead of a 3 months.
