Value Resort Vs. Wyndham

I've stayed at the AS Resorts and found them to be ok. Once you stay at the Yacht Club and Wilderness Lodge you become spoiled. I'm trying to plan a trip for Christmas with my in-laws and found the Value Resorts to be about the same price as the Wyndham which is located next to Downtown Disney. The Wyndham looks pretty nice, but can anyone give me some feedback on this hotel? It is worth it or should we just stay at the AS Resorts?

Going to WL in in three weeks, but starting to plan for next spring.

I wouldn't trade a WDW resort during the holidays for any off-park one. My vote is ASMo. Park the vehicle and enjoy the season as only Disney can deliver it

In April 2002 we stayed at VWL while 17 of my relatives stayed at the Wyndam. They did not like it and said they'd never stay there again. There's nothing like staying at a Disney resort IMO!

I stayed at the Wyndham several years ago, and even back then it was kind of dated. Hopefully they did some kind of rehab since then. Having said that, the Wyndham does have interior corridors and some of the rooms have nice views. There are sit down restaurants located there and you are very close to Downtown Disney. There is transportation, but it does not run as often as the Disney buses. From what I can remember, the resort is not really themed at all, but maybe they do a little more during the holidays. Now for my opinion....I would stay at the Wyndham. I really prefer a hotel with interior corridors and sit-down restaurants.

I stayed at Wyndham a few times in the past (It used to be Buena Vista Palace) it is a nice hotel. They have a separate building that is all suites and for our honeymoon we stayed in the two floor penthouse with a balcony that was 1/4th of the entire roof. Some have a Downtown Disney view which is nice. The hotel is not themed it is more of a business feel. It has a great morning breakfast buffet that used to be a character breakfast 1 day a week (don't know if it still is). Outback (not the chain) is a great steak and seafood restaurant but is a bit pricey. Alberts 27 is on the top floor and is a top notch restaurant with great views. They have bus transportation to all the parks but it runs less often (every 30 minutes). We always rented a car so it didn't matter to much to us. If you are into nightlife the proximity to Downtown Disney can't be beat. My wife and I stumbled home many a night. If we hadn't bought a DVC we would still stay there. Also, you might want to see if Swan/Dolphin is in your price range. They are also a non-disney resort but a walking distance to MGM/Epcot and have the boardwalk for nightlife. I believe they run specials all the time and right now they have a discount for teachers/govt workers/military. Don't know if it applies to you but thats my 2 cents.

The Wyndam has redone the rooms. I like it there, the location is great you can walk to DTD.

The drawback for the time you are going is transport. The DTD bus system is not as good as the Disney bus system and I think when it is very crowded those DTD buses just get PACKED!!!

I have done the Wyndam a lot on Priceline. (My priceline rule is if I can get a resort for the price of the values I am going priceline.)

I agree! I would rather stay in the mod or deluxe but if I had to choose between off site and the All Stars. The All Stars wins hands down!!

We stayed at OKW, then WL, then ASMovies, then the Wyndham. The Wyndham totally suffered by compairison, even to the AS's. We left calling it the Wyndham Dungeon. Then we came home and promptly bought into DVC. We would stay at any Disney resort before going back to the Wyndham.
