Value Resort vs Saratoga Springs

I'd stay where you want to, since, well, you are paying for it!

That being said, SSR looks just too spread out for me. I love having a washer/dryer and kitchen, though.

My DD is 18, and after many deluxe stays, we stayed at Pop, and both loved it! It's so darned cute. We found that we prefer the huge (huge!) selection of food at the food courts at the value resorts now, as after a day at the parks, we usually end up going back and having dinner at the resort. Last trip, we were so tired the first night (arrived early, did Epcot all afternoon, and had little sleep the night before since we had to be on the way to the airport that morning at like 4:30am), and loved that now pizza delivery offers entrees and salads, so basically without the real plates, it's room service for a much better cost (3 of us, dinner was under $50). We were at Sports that trip, which was great as well.

So, if an 18 year old loved the theme at Pop (we walked around AOA and it was very cute), an 8 year old will too. But really, the kids will enjoy anywhere you stay! My kids at that age loved the Swan and BWI as well (Epcot is always their favorite place to go as well as MK, but I'm no longer a huge fan of the monorail resorts, and the room rates at Disney have gotten so crazy high that we find the values work for what we need, a clean, quiet room, quick bus service, and good selection of dinner options). Only thing I do bring is a travel coffee maker and good coffee, and in my Safeway order disposable cups.

I think most 8yr olds would enjoy any of the value resorts. My kids are happy at the values and they are older than 8.

My 6 year old's top two resorts are SSR and AOA. He loved the little tiny slide at the Springs pool and the splash area. He used both of these in January (too cold for me!) and I loved that I could sit at the edge and watch him. He also really liked the quiet pool that was steps from our unit! We have eaten at Artist Point many times and like that they have some nicer options and we find that most entrees we can easily share. We also have eaten several times at the sit down restaurant and love that you can get in at the last minute. Our service here was amazing. I really like having a kitchen while at Disney. I can make breakfast and lunch in our unit, as well as have a wide variety of healthy snacks. My kids don't eat a bunch of junk food and feeding them healthy stuff gets expensive quickly! I have stayed at this resort without a car and I didn't think that was an issue (however, we don't mind walking). We loved being so close to Disney Springs! I have had both good/bad bus experiences here.

We also stayed at AOA in the Cars suite and my boys fought over the Mater bed (ironically the pull out couch as view of the TV). He loved the theming of resort. I didn't eat in the food court, so I can't comment on it. We did like that the suites have two bathrooms. There is a mini fridge and microwave, but it is not full kitchen.

When I asked why these were his favorite he would tell you because you have to take a bus to all of the parks! He is a bus enthusiast and can tell you all of the different models and facts about them. So you might be surprised why your children like/dislike a resort!

Artist Point is a signature restaurant at The Wilderness Lodge. Are you referring to the CS Artist's Palette? Big difference.

Personally I much prefer the food court at AoA over Artist's Palette.
