Going for 7 nights in June 2005. Staying at the Yacht Club for 4 of the nights and needed to stay at either a Value Resort or Moderate for 3 nights to save some money. I have never stayed at any of the value resorts. I have stayed at the POFQ, Coronado and Caribbean Beach resort. Need some opinion on the value resorts....they seem to have a very "motel" feel. Is that true? Is it worth spending $30 more a night to stay at a moderate? We do spend a lot of time in the hotel room. We have 2 little girls that need their daily naps. So would we be happy at the value resorts? Do the rooms feel that much smaller than the moderates? Please help? And which value resort is the best? THANKS! :cool1:

Go for a moderate. It's worth the extra money.

Personally I do think it's worth the (relatively) little extra $$ to stay at a moderate rather than a value. The rooms are bigger, the grounds are nicer, you have the option of a sit-down restaurant, plus hot tubs.

I won't say that I'll never stay at a value resort, but I think the moderates are an excellent value for your money.

Have a great time, wherever you decide to stay! :sunny:

I have no problem staying at the value resorts, but for you, I think it would be worth the money for a moderate. If you don't plan on spending much time in your room, the values are a great. Since you'll be going back for naps everyday, I think the moderate would be better.

Here is my two cents which I continue to say on these boards to this question

Go for the moderate, they are WELL worth the extra money to upgrade from the unvalue resorts. Sorry about that unvalue remark, but my view is the moderates are the real value at disney.

I personally don't mind the values--but I travel only with hubby. If I were in your position with your two small children, I would select the moderate. When it comes time to get the girls ready, you will appreciate the extra sink and slightly larger bath area. Plus you get the option of a mini fridge I believe now at the mods--this is new from my last stay, so I'm not sure. That would be nice to keep chilled juice boxes for snacks. (But I'd also check rates at the Swan or Dolphin and compare the difference.)

I would definitely go for the moderate. If you can, make sure you stay at the one you choose FIRST before you go to the Yacht Club or you may be a little disappointed for the last part of your trip.

We stayed at the Pop Century the first 3 nights, then POFQ the next 6. The POP rooms are clean and look new albiet basic. The pools are nice (although no slide). My best nights sleep were actually at the POP becuase the beds are so comfy. It was a great value considering the price we paid. We definately felt the Disney experience here and Our 4 year old son's favorite was the POP because of the colors and the huge statues but........

The brand new FQ room was NOTICABLY bigger and was more comfortable moving around. The 2 sinks were handy (son opened the soaps immediately to give us a soap at our sink and him a soap at his....too cute). The decor was definately more "resort" like. This moderate was definately worth the extra.

I concur with Luigi's Girl, if you do decide to go with a value, do it the days BEFORE your stay at the Yacht club. The difference between the value and the moderate resorts is quite noticable and you're liable to feel like you've left the "magic" a couple of days early.

Go with the value resorts..with two little kids you will absolutely love them.

The value resorts are conveniently laid out. Everything..main building, pool, food court, bus stops are just a few minute walk from any building they could put you in. Food courts are wonderful. Pools are great.

We have stayed at all the all stars and at Pop...any of them would be great.

We have also stayed at all the moderates..and we find them overpriced for what they are. If we can't stay deluxe..we stay value.

Ya, we definitely stay at our deluxe hotel at the end of the trip. I've never stayed at the Yacht Club so I'm real excited. :cool1: Last year, we did POFQ and then ended with WL. We enjoy resort hopping because it allows us to experience a nicer resort that we normally wouldn't be able to afford. We have always done a moderate at the beginning, but since the value resorts would save us even more money I was wondering if it was worth it? Most of ya'll kinda confirmed what I was feeling...the moderates are still a better value! I think I might do the Coronado this time....I don't know...decisions....decisions......thanks for all the great advice!

Fantasia,

May I kindly ask why you are bumping all of these "value vs. moderate" threads?? :) Isn't 1 enough..........there is currently 10 on the first page??

Just asking............. :wave2:
