Value or Moderate

I have never been able to justify the price difference between a value and moderate to stay at one of the moderates (especially since I have always been able to get an AP rate at the values). However, having visited all of the resorts I will say that the moderates seem to have a more calm and relaxing atmosphere than the values (esp. POR and POFQ). But now that we own DVC I guess I'll never find out.

I like the moderates because of how open and spaced out everything was. POR had nice seperate buildings with lots of room between, overall very relaxing and calm indeed.

We stayed at Pop for our first family trip (DD's ages 3 & 5 at the time), then went back about 6 months later & stayed at POR since my sister has 3 kids & they couldn't stay at Pop. My kids wanted to go back to Pop. POR did have a nice, calm feel about it, but Pop really surprised me & we loved it. I honestly didn't notice that the rooms at POR were larger (still seemed small).

We're heading to WDW in May & we chose to stay at Pop again. Don't forget about the frozen cokes that are included at Pop...that could make all the difference for your kids

Long time lurker, first time poster. I love these boards

We will be taking our first family trip in August of this year. I currently have ressies at the Pop and was considering trading up to a moderate. We don't have much money to spend and I'm wondering if it worth spending our money on a moderate or using it to go to Universal or Sea World.

I've stayed moderate and deluxe (with discounts) in the past, but I would not hesitate to stay value, if I needed to watch my budget more closely. With kids your age, I would rather spend the extra money on water parks than a better hotel pool. My kids LOVE the water parks as much (or more) than the theme parks.

If you plan to spend a lot of time away from the room, paying more for a nicer room can be a waste of money, IMHO. In any case, for your first trip, you won't know what you're missing (at a mod) so I would think you'll be plenty happy at a value.
