Hi everyone, this is my first post here although I've been reading this site like crazy. I'm going to the World in July with my boyfriend but I am already thinking about my next trip. i decided I'd like to take my mom to the World for her birthday somewhere around next Sept./Oct. I won't be able to afford anything too much because I'm starting college this fall. Which resorts are better, Mod or Value?? Which hotel would you choose. I would really like to make this trip magical for my mom. Thanks! :)

Mods definitely. The mods offer more ammenities, beautiful landscaping. DH and I stayed at POR and loved it. It is a large resort but it was so nice.

Good luck with your decision.

POFQ is not as spread out as the other mods or the values.

POR CBR and CSR are very spread out.

The Values are laid out closer together.

The mods have pool slides, a hot tub and a sit down restaurant (POFQ doses not have a sit down restaurant but shares with POR.

There is not much room size difference between a mod and a value.

Here is the layout of a mod.
The bathroom is about the same size as the All Stars but you will have 2 sinks instead of one.

here is the All Star room layout'

The mod has 54 square feet more than the value.
That means if both the mod and the value room were 27 feet long than the mod would be 2 feet wider. Just enough room for a double sink instead of a single.

To me there is not a lot of room size difference.

I have stayed at all levels of Disney resorts.

All Star Music is my favorite Disney owned hotel.

All Star Music is undergoing a refurbishment of all of the rooms and is slated to be completed by June 2007.

The Calypso and Jazz buildings are completed and the last I heard they are working on the Broadway Buildings.

Here is a website with photos of the newly refurbished rooms at All Star Music.

Look at the Jazz Inn section with new posted:

All Star Music tends to be the quietest of the values. More couples and less young children tend to stay at All Star Music.

Please see my info thread for more reasons why I enjoy All Star Music so much.

Have fun at Disney!:wizard:

My DGF and I have stayed at value resorts each trip and it is just fine with us. We find that on our tight budget it is better to save the extra cash and spend it on something fun like ADRs.

Value, no doubt about it. The room size isn't much different between a value and a mod, but the price difference can be huge! Personally, we don't mind value resorts, because we'd rather spend our money in the parks!

I really like the grounds, details and overall feel of the moderates so much better than the values. Plus the rooms are larger (20% larger than the values), which provides enough space for extra storage, double sinks, and fewer stubbed toes on furniture. If you're going to be sharing a room, these few things can be important.

I also find the values way too crowded, and lacking in trees and landscaping.

I've only stayed at POR, POFQ and CBR, I probably like the theme at CBR the best (make sure to request a room in Jamaica or Aruba for the location).

My mom and I got a great deal at CSR and it is our favorite moderate resort for sure. We usually stay at deluxes but we loved CSR for our stay.

Goodmorningirl - you will LOVE Pop! We also do a mother/daughter trip each July. Pop is small enough that you won't have to walk a mile to the food court, but big enough to have great places to go for a walk (especially by the lake). The pools are all great, the shopping is wonderful, Mousekeeping has always been extremely clean, and the food court has a lot of choices. All things seem affordable here. All the CMs have the most pleasant personalities of any resort we have ever stayed at. I don't know how they do it, but they are always helpful and extremely kind.

Enjoy your Pop trip! :thumbsup2

Mods they offer less food selection at the food court but, I like their designs better than the Values. I am not saying values have a poor design, no their designs are very well put together, I just prefer the Mods. My suggestion would be the POFQ it is just really beautiful and they are really good about making your stay magical.

Another vote for a moderate resort. They are themed nicer and i think she'll enjoy it. Look at the pics of CSR and you may want to consider that hotel as it appears to be a big favorite on DIS.

In the future, you may want to sign up at disneyworld.com and request to receive email offers so you can get PIN codes or postcard offers. You can get a Deluxe resort for less than the price of a Moderate.

You will love pop. My husband and I stayed there in Feb a lake view room and it was perfect for just the 2 of us. Have a wonderful stay at POP! And the way I see it was good is a room if your only gonna sleep and shower in it. Why pay more? For a MOD:confused3
