I went to ASSports in August 06 and liked it. Trust me, we weren't at the hotel much. However, this time I want to bring my grandparents. I still can't see us at the hotel much. I plan a lot of time to be spent at Epcot and restaurants versus hiking back to the hotel. But, I 've never traveled with my grandparents before, they might want to relax at the hotel a lot. The mods seem nicer and more 'resort like'. I don't mind paying more (I stay at Loews @ Universal), but it doesn't seem like the Disney resorts really give you as much bang for the buck compared to Universal.

Anyway, I'm looking at POP for value and PO French Quarter for a mod. I think I'd like CSR, but FQ seems like it'd be different (I've been to the southwest a lot).

Also, the dates I was looking at are a little confusing price wise.

2/21-2/25 $1259 Value (Preferred)
2/21-2/26 $1403 Value (Preferred) ($150 a night for 2/25?)

2/21-2/25 $1524 Mod (Std)
2/21-2/26 $1726 Mod (Std) ($200 a night for 2/25?)

Why the heck is that extra day so much more expensive? Doesn't make sense to me at all. I tried 2/20-2/25 as well, it's the same prices. The price per day, per person is cheaper for a 4night stay versus a 5 night. That seems bizarre to me. I would opt for the extra day, but I don't see why it's so much more money for that extra night. I know it's not the ticket prices of 5 days versus 6, as that is only a few dollars. Thanks so much, these boards really helped my friend and I to enjoy our 06 trip. :)

I bet that your GP would love staying at a MOD I think the additional cost
will be well worth it and here is why:

They are very nice to just hang out at and they have there
own Table Service Restaurant (which are very good).
Both POFQ and POR have very nice Counter Service Restaurants also.
All of the MODs that we've stayed in have Beautiful Grounds
to explore. If your GP decided that they wanted to stay at
the Resort for the day and you could head to the parks they
would have plenty to keep them busy or not busy (which ever they choose).

We will be staying at POFQ on our next trip and it is very
Charming and Quant because of its small size.
Don't Rule out the Sister Resort of POFQ which is
PO-Riverside (has the TS restaurant-Boatwrights).

POR Grounds and Architech are like Gone with the Wind in the Masions side and Very Old South rustic Country feel on the AB side (patchwork quilts, log furniture) both side have cute little animals roaming (bunnies, ducks, and in the water-turtles).

POR resort is Very Relaxing. Whenever we stayed there
my DH (not a Disney Expert) thought that I had opted to splurg and
stay at a Deluxe WDW Resort (he couldn't believe it when I told him POR was
a MOD). There are Standard Rooms that are very close to the main area and
you could make a request (w/ explaination about GP when booking your stay).

My DH will not try the Values because of the Large Icons which to him are
not very relaxing after a long day at the Parks.

I hope all of you will have a Wonderful Trip where ever you decide to stay!:goodvibes

Hi.

Your travel dates are during "peak" season, (prices for peak season go up on Feb. 14) Disney's second highest rates all year.

Beginning in 2008, Disney has changed the price of the rooms within a certain season... weekend nights and some holidays are higher during certain seasons.

Also, assuming you are an adult... Disney charges an extra fee if there are more than 2 adults in the room.

So, for those dates, at a value resort, I think you are paying about $131., for week nights and 141., for weekend nights, for 2 adults, and... 141., for week nights and 151., for Fri. and Sat. nights, for 3 adults, (add more for a 4th adult).

Even if you want to book a package, you can first check your nightly rate at Disney's web site by clicking on room only reservation... this will break it down and show the rate you are paying per night.

There is a discount code available for that time period. It includes a slight discount on the room and a free upgrade to hopper and water park tickets. It must be booked by Dec. 15.

If I could take my DGP's to Disney, and if I were you, I'd definitely stay at POFQ, if that's an option. I think they will really appreciate the beauty of it's landscaping.

I hope you can work it out :goodvibes ... I think it's great you want to take your Grandparents.
