Have nearly finished booking a trip for November but need to book 2 nights hotel (for 2 adults) for 8/11 and 9/11. Have already run out of my budget for the whole trip somehow - it adds up so quickly! Lots of cheap hotels to be found of course but anyone know somewhere that they could vouch for? Facilities aren't important - just clean, safe and preferably reasonably quiet.

Ideally would be in International Drive area but it doesn't really matter too much.

we;ve stayed at the Clarion Universal which is at the top of i-drive.
It's not the cheapest cheapest hotel out there, but it was very nice and it's not that expensive.

Best Western Movieland on I-Drive is good and clean and well located (opposite Wet n Wild). We found the best prices through Dreams Unlimited at under $45 a night including taxes.

I know it's not International Drive but we stayed two years running at the Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista and it was excellent and a very good price. Brilliantly situated too.

If you're not too bothered about a particular hotel I would suggest http://www.hotwire.com , I've used these several times and they provide accomodation at rock bottom prices. Like priceline you don't get to know the actual hotel until AFTER you commit to the booking, but unlike priceline they tell you the price, not you guess where you think the best price will be. For that reason I prefer it to priceline's style.

Thanks for all the help - will start checking through the web for deals on above.

Looking in my Unofficial Guide (Sehlinger) Red Roof Inns are in the top 30 for value for money. There are 2 or 3 in Orlando and they are very cheap (around $35 a night) - has anyone stayed in one of these?

Hi

Just to say that I used Priceline for the first time and got a great deal on the Wyndham Orlando I Drive cheaper than $35 a night.

If you are interested then I would say read www.biddingfortravel.com before using www.priceline.com

I stayed in the Red Roof Inn in Kissemmee in 2002. I believe it's the highest-rated hotel for "value" in the 2003 edition of the Guide. It was a clean, comfortable room for about $44 / night with tax. The beds seemed a tad small, but I didn't fall off the mattress, which is my primary bedding criterion. :)

Another option would be the new Motel 6. Really. I believe it's on I-Drive, and is around $30/night. The Orlando Sentinel did a story on the motel when it opened - it's supposed to be one of the new 'prototype' hotels for Motel 6 going forward. Triangular bathrooms, if I understand correctly.

The consensus among the Unofficial Guide hotel researchers was that the Motel 6 was the most improved property in this year's evaluations - and we checked more than 250 hotels. I'd certainly consider staying there if funds were tight.

We stayed at the travel lodge on International Drive in Feb 2002 and found it to be reasonable. It was safe, quiet and clean. Hoping it is going to be the same as we are booked to go there next Feb.

We have stayed twice at the Rodeway Inn on International Drive, and will probably book again for our trip in November. It is situated almosy opposite Wet and Wild, close to Universal, and has bus/trolley stops right outside. It is a simple no frills basic hotel, but we have found it to be Ok for us. The rooms do however have tea/coffee making facilities,a fridge and a microwave.

There is a special deal on at he moment called the 'Orlandough Package' which has prices from $29.95 per room per night (plus tax). Check out the website at www.rodewayinnorlando.com

Another vote for the Rodeway. If they are full they usually put you in the Omni Rosen at no extra & thats what you call a free upgrade!

I agree with Astrid.
Comfort Inn LBV is great value for money.
Its clean quiet and very convenient.
We used the kids suite with the bunk beds and single bed,fridge,microwave,2 tv's..... as well as queen for $59 last year (price has'nt changed much this year).

Another Comfort Inn LBV recommendation.

Ideal location for I4, the Parks - and minutes from many good eating places.

Stayed there 97 & 99

My mate stayed for a week last year, on my recommendation, prior to a week on the Gulf Coast - he was similarly pleased by location, price and nearby amenities.

Had rooms from $39 3 weeks ago when we were there. Right next to the big Macs and with ponderosa, Golden Corrall cloe and free shuttles to Universal and Sea World and teh I-Bus on the door step.

Clean, tidy, and good location.

Best to find the phone numbers and book direct, ask them for specials etc.

You can get a 'semi-suite' at the Comfort Inn, for your dates, for $49 per room per night

2 double beds, microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator, alarm clock radio, colour tv, A/C, free in-room safe, free Disney Channel !!

There will be cheaper - but it's got all you need and more.
