What exactly are Value and Standard accomodations are AKL? Obviously not looking at the pool or Savannah view.

I think "value" has more to do with the size of the villa, not necessarily the view."Standard" may be more keyed to the view, especially in Kidani. I'm under the impression that the AKV values would be in Jambo, owing to the limitations of retro-fitting some of the lodge rooms.
We're going "home" next week and I'm hoping to get some answers from a CM at the SSR model rooms:thumbsup2, since I, too, am :confused3 .

The Value villas are smaller or "oddly shaped". They will be created from the standard-size AKL rooms on the 5th floor of the Lodge building. The value 1BR and 2BR villas will not have the sleeper chair so they will accommodate 4 and 8 people respectively.

In the case of the Standard villas, "standard" refers to the view, which will be pool, garden or parking lot. They are larger than the "value" villas. The ones in the Lodge building will be created from the deluxe-size AKL rooms. There will also be standard view villas in the new building. The 1BR and 2BR villas will have a sleeper chair in the living area, so they will accommodate up to 5 and 9 people respectively.

I called yesterday to find out about the values. The person I got on the phone told me that yesterday afternoon, they were supposed to have a meeting which would cover info about the value rooms. So give them a call today to get the specifics.

She did tell me that the value rooms did not have a savanah view. But call today in case they changed that info in their meeting.

As per my guide, the values can have any view. It is the size of the room that makes it a value. If I was going to get a value, I'd put in a request for a value with a savannah view. Good luck, have fun.

Thanks so much, Glendamax! Last year I had a pool view room on the fifth floor of AKL that was great! I'm hoping that room will be a value room now that it's AKV.

Although it wasn't savannah view, I could go right outside my room to a nice little bench for a savannah view.

If your room was a standard-size AKL room, it will become a value studio or part of a value 1BR or 2BR. If that room was a deluxe-size AKL room, it will become a standard studio or part of a standard 1BR or 2BR.

The deluxe-size AKL rooms are the same width as the standard-size AKL rooms, but they are 4 feet longer. In your photo of the savannah, notice how the balcony of the 5th floor room (on the left side of the photo) sticks out further than the balcony of the room below? That is a deluxe-size AKL room. So if your 5th floor room was one of those longer AKL rooms, then it will become a AKV standard villa. If it did not overhang the floor below like the one in your photo, then it was a standard-size AKL room and will become a value villa.

Thanks for the pics and the info! I didnt realize that if you had a different view, you could still view the Savanah in a spot close to your room.

At first I thought the value room would be a bit small. But since it is a regular-sized AKL room, it should be enough space. Plus it would be great to NOT use a bunch of points over the weekend!

I think the value studios will be just fine. Take a regular AKL room with 2 queen beds and remove one bed and put in a full-size sofa. Remodel the closet space into a kitchenette and put an armoire where the little refrigerator used to be. The only thing I'm not sure about is what is happening to the existing TV armoire. If they are replacing the existing TVs with flat screen models, then I assume they are replacing the big TV armoires with something smaller which will be good -- two armoires in the room would be a bit much. We've stayed in regular AKL rooms and been quite comfortable. I imagine there will be less closet space but you gain a kitchenette. And you can't beat the price!

According to the AKV FAQs page: http://dvc.disney.go.com/dvc/guest/resorts/resortDetail?id=ProspectsDAKVFAQPage#5 about half of the value villas will have a savannah view. Some will have a pool view and the rest will be parking lot view:

Approximately half of the Value Accommodations and Kilimanjaro Club Concierge rooms have a Savanna View. The rest have a Standard View, which includes a view of the pool, garden or parking lot. While Savanna View or Standard View room categories are confirmed at time of reservation, please note that Standard View room view preference requests are noted but not guaranteed.

Wow Lisa, you are just chock full of info! I called my guide today earlier today, and he said that there will be no values available when I go this September. They will not be available untill next year. So looks like I'll be aiming for a standard.

Thanks for all of your info!

Aww, rats! No values this September? That's what I was hoping for. So now I guess I should learn about the Standards.
