When you pull up to the resort the 1st time (we never know the proper procedure), Do you tip the guy who takes your luggage and puts in the "room" till you check in? [we usually self park, at this time]. And then we tip the next guy who brings the bags to your room, sometimes this is just 5 minutes later. At the Poly you go back outside and get in the cart there with your bags, they didn't even get them put away sometimes. But its usually a different guy. Is this the proper way things are handled? We watch Samantha Brown, and noticed She does NOT tip the 1st guy, only the guy who brings the bags to the room?

What do you do?

Thanks, Mky princess:

We tip the guy who takes the luggage out of the trunk. We tip the guy who brings the luggage to our room. We tip the guy who parks the car We tip the guy who brings it back.

I'd rather be known and rewarded with superior service as an over-tipper than an under-tipper. We've gotten to know some of teh bellmen and valet's at WDW, and have found that sometimes we do seem to get faster service.

I'm an over-tipper. I am so happy to not have to worry about carting my own junk on vacation that I tip everyone. I do tip the fellow that takes my luggage and the man that brings it to the room. We tip valet both ways. I figure in the long run I'm not going to miss a few bucks and it makes my vacation so much easier not to have to do that stuff myself.

Thanks, that's what we have always done too. Then I thought maybe I was the only one, and I was some kinda tipping nut. :goodvibes Or just out of the loop. :confused3

I second ducklite's words 200%.. living in Las Vegas where tips is not a city in China and are an important part of the paycheck (use to be a dealer for over 15 years) I know the value of a tip and I would rather overtip then under tip or not tip at all which I have seen alot of everywhere.

We each have our own views on tipping and no one is right or wrong although some would disagree with that. I have seen people who don't even tip at all which I will never understand but that's me :confused3 ... and then there are people like myself who overtip but I can tell you this.. I "NEVER" get bad service.

Good Luck!!

What do you do about tipping if your room isn't ready and a bellman brings your bags to your room while you're at the parks?

Tipping is a very touchy subject....but since you asked....

We tip everyone. We tip the guy that takes our bags from the car to the cart, the guy that takes the bags to the room, the woman in charge of housekeeping, the women that make up/turn down the room, the managers at the restaurants we love to frequent, overtip the waitstaff, and the concierge person that checks us in and helps us throughout our stay. Anyone that lifts, moves, delivers, cleans...whatever gets a tip.

I know it sounds like a lot....BUT....we have the same bellman who remembers our name , we get the exact room we want whenever we go-even with last minute trips, the same concierge person takes care of us, we get the best tables without a PS and some extras from the restaurant managers (champagne, dessert) our room gets extra TLC as well...our favorites are always in the room when we get there ( grey gose, limes, tonic, champagne on ice and strawberries).

We love to spread it around, not to get stuff but because these people go out of their way to make your vacation magical. We really appreciate these kind gestures given to us considering how may people they see. We are always remembered - and we remember them! We have made friends with these people and in a way are our "vacation family". They have become just as important to us as the location itself and always look forward to see them. This is not just for WDW, but everywhere we travel.

It's also not just about tipping, but about being kind. Also whenever there is a survey of any kind anywhere, I always emntion names and say how professional, curteous, etc. thye were. Many times these surveys mean extra money or some kind of incentives for employees.
