My understanding is that one can valet park (for a fee) at the Grand Floridian even if one is not a guest, and without any 3 hour time limit. Is this correct? My goal is to park there, have a look around, and then go to MK, returning in the evening. I understand that guest non valet parking is scarce, and that there is sometimes a 3 hour limit, but that this does not apply to valet parking.

Am I safe??

Thanks!

Why wouldn't you just go to the Magic Kingdom and take the monorail to the Grand Floridian for a look around? You'll pay more in valet parking than you will just to park in MK's lot, and you do have to have a 'reason' for parking (even valet) at Grand Floridian.

Bumping you over to Resorts for more answers. :)

Answer is that I'm not sure valet parking is more, and it is very convenient to drop off the car, walk up the stairs and be at the monorail. No crowds, very civilized...

Velet parking costs more (plus you have to tip) than parking at the TTC. There can sometimes be a long wait to get your car back at the end of the night (up to half an hour!). You can park at the TTC, take the monorail to the GF, then take the monorail to the MK. On the return, the TTC is closer, and serviced by two monorails (resort and TTC) as opposed to the GF which you can only reach via the resort monorail.

During peak times, valet parking is sometimes restricted to those who are registered guests to avoid not having enough space for those who are staying there, so you could get there and have to go all the way back around to the TTC when you are refused.

If you're staying at another on-site resort, then yes Valet is more expensive because the MK parking lot would be no charge to you. Valet will cost you about $10 with tip and it's not intended to be a convenience to non-resort guests spending the day in the park.

Pretty much

Probably

As Anne pointed out, there are times when valet is restricted. But more often than not you're going to be okay with your plan. Your might irritate some resort guests with your plan (I would be one of them if the valet lot was full and I couldn't drop off our car, or had to wait longer because of you). But that decision is up to you. The guard will ask you why you're there (dining, kids activity, looking around the resort).

Your question: Am I safe?

based on frequent experience, my answer: Yes

and you should have no problems whatsoever. :sunny:

Basically it depends on when you go. If you're going at a busy time, such as Christmas or Thanksgiving, they won't even let you through the gate at GF without an ADR number. Trust me: it's happened to me before. Even when it's not a peak time they're pretty strict about letting people on property. As another poster pointed out, it's free to park at the TTC if you're staying on site. It costs $7 plus tip to valet. When you go through the gate they give you the three hour parking permit; it doesn't matter if you valet or not.

Besides all that, it's considered very bad form to take up a resort parking place to go to the park. That's why they're so strict.

When you have to ask the question, "Am I safe?" maybe you should consider the plan a not-so-good one. ;)
