Valet Parking ??????

It's been a while so here goes. How exactly does the Valet Parking work at the resorts while staying in the World? For example once we check into the Beach Club and pay for Valet do we continue to Pay for Valet at the other Deluxe Resorts that we will be eating at? What is the time limit when you Valet because we may be a while when we eat at the Poly. at O'hana's? And last but not least, how does one tip? When you pick up and or drop off your car or both? Thanks, just wanted to get some clarification!!! Chip.

You pay once per day. You will be given a tag to hang from your rearview mirror. There is no time limit. Most tip when they pick up, we do both.

As Sammie said, you only pay once per day. Usually it is charged to your room; I think it's still $7 a day. Sometimes we got a tag; other times it was just a receipt. Either way all the other deluxe resorts will recognize it and park your car for you. I tip both at drop-off and pick-up, too. In normal weather, I tip $2 or $3 each time; if inclement weather, I add a couple of bucks. There is no time limit for valet parking.

The charge for valet parking is assessed to your folio (room bill), so you don't have to pay the valet guys or stop at the desk daily - you can pay it all at checkout.

If you've valet parked at your hotel, you are able to use the service at all other hotels with valet parking. Once in a while I encounter a valet person who wasn't aware of this. I gently explain the policy to them, they check with someone else and it is settled. The Contemporary seems to have the highest amount of confusion. The Beach Club has the fastest & most helpful valet staff (IMHO).

The time limit is about 2 hours when you are visiting other hotels, the Contemporary (especially) and the Poly (to a lesser extent) make a big deal out of telling you about your time limit. I think they try to discourage folks from parking there to avoid the TTC. But they've never towed me or anything.

Most people who use valet parking often tip on pickup. Usually about $2, more in rain. Two years ago in Chicago I saw a drunk guy tip $20. I've seen a lot of folks at WDW tip at drop-off, too. While it is very nice it isn't expected.

I've never heard this. We valet parked at the Poly yesterday for 'Ohana's and asked how much time we had, and the valet said as much as we wanted. I said after dinner we might go around on the monorail, and he said that's fine, and if wanted to, we were welcome to stop over at MK to the Halloween party. Is there really supposed to be a time limit? We endedup leaving the car from 5 pm - 12am..opps. He didn't even charge us, since we had a DDE card. We tipped of course.

I've never heard this either... I valet park every time our family goes to WDW and never has a valet said there is a time limit, at the Contemporary, Poly or any deluxe resort. That's why I pay for the service... so that we don't have to rush (plus we don't have to hike from the self-park lot!).

The charge part I know about..it was the time limit I hadn't heard about. You weren't charged? Do you have handicap plates or hangtag?

On our last trip we valet parked everyday at the WL. When we went to CR for dinner, we were asked our room# and I told them WL room #. I half expected to see an additional charge to our room, but it was only $7 per day. I totally love this service, especially when we are checking in and out! It is totally worth it. We tip both drop off/pick up, and they knew us by the time we left. Always awesome service, maybe because we tip well, but I think that it is just great service all the time. We use valet in other cities as well, and the WL was totally the fastest and freindliest. Impressive!

There is no time limit for valet parking. Many times when we are using the valet parking for our resort we leave it there for days without getting it out of valet.

We also have a handicap sticker and that is free parking anyways. that surely helps since I am in a wheelchair or scooter, since I can't walk due to ankle surgery for a fusion

Just got back from valet parking at BW all day since 10 am and no problem at all.

Yes, there is supposed to be a time limit. Sometimes they say 2, sometimes 3 hours. This isn't (usually) done by the valet staff, but by the folks in the little guard booths (with the white picket fence bar thingies). Again, this isn't at the hotel you're staying at, just the ones you visit.

Because we spend so much time at WDW, some of them remember us (!) and wave us through, some don't. Of those that don't, more than half of them issue the little time limit slip.

The Contemporary especially is big on it. That very nice older guy in the booth never fails to write the slip out. Nor does that valet girl with the long brown hair. They might have quit, but they've both been there a while.

Why it hasn't happened to other people I don't know.

Ohh..you are talking about the regular time limit. Yes, that is 3 hours, usually at the Poly and Contemporary to prevent people parking there and going to the parks. That is different from valet parking. That 3 hour slip of paper means nothing once you valet park.

Yeah, valet guys will take the car and let it sit in the lot for you -- especially if you tip them well.

But, the rule holds for everyone -- there is a time limit for parking regardless of how you do it. If you're staying at the Beach Club, you are not supposed to park at the Contemporary, and they may very well issue you a little slip that says you have to be outta there on time.

Again, I've stayed longer and never had a problem, but that's the deal.
