Valet Parking Questions (free?)

I'm not generally a valet parking kind of gal, but I think with the DDE card, you get free valet parking at the resorts, am I right? If that is true, how does it work? How much should you tip? Do you tip when you drop the car off or when you get it back or both? As you can tell, I don't valet my car very often! Thanks!

Valet parking is free for DDE members IF you are dining at the restraurant of the resort you are parking at. Theme Park parking is also free if you're dining at a park restruarant too (you must pay, then guest services will reimburse you after you show them your card and dining receipt, and parking receipt). Some folks tip when the car is returned, while others tip during drop off and return. I believe folks do the second, because the person is different during each transaction. When you pick up your car you have to go to the booth at the resort and show the CM your DDE card and dining receipt for them to waive the fee.

Yes, if you have the DDE card *and* dine at one of the resort restaurants, you are given valet parking for free. I like doing this because if I eat at one of the MK monorail resort restaurants, I can valet park and just take the resort monorail to/from the park rather than deal with the theme park parking lot. I do this with EPCOT resorts as well.

When I went this past April, I wasn't asked for my restaurant receipt at all. They just swiped my DDE card (it's got a magnetic strip on it) and that was it. I had my receipts just in case but was never asked for them.

Some folks tip when they drop off their car, some tip when the car is returned. I tip when my car is returned to me and I usually tip about $2 - $5 depending on how many people are with me. If it's just me and my daughter and a mid-size rental car, I usually tip $2...a little more if the CM is very exceedingly helpful. If I'm with more people and driving an SUV, I tip $5. It is up to your personal preference.

Correct! I've done this a lot of times. I'l have dinner at either Kona or 'Ohana, go back to the park for Wishes and to do a few rides, cruise back to the Poly and then pick up my car from the valet. I love it!

As long as you use valet and not self parking.

I can't remember the last time I used the MK parking lot because I usually valet at the Poly. It's great!!
