Do you ever use your free valet parking to park at one of the MK resorts then head over to MK for the day (instead of using the TTC)?

Free Valet parking is only available for DVC members @ DVC resorts. There is no free valet parking @ GF.

Well the one and ONLY time I stayed at the GF I had the valet park my car.

Apparently they park them at Epcot. It took over 30 minutes EVERY time for them to get my car. One time it took 45 minutes. (When I called from my room they still didn't even START dealing with it until after I showed up at the front) And I had to basically attack a valet to get them to take the car back.

So IMHO there is no reason to waste your time dealing with that valet. By the time you get them to take your car and wait on the monorail to get clearance you could have parked at the back of the MK lot and taken the boat and been in MK! LOL!

DVC members are not supposed to use Valet parking to avoid parking at the theme parks.

We always start our day at the Grand even if we are staying somewhere else, like a cup of coffee in the fabulous lobby or a stroll through the shops. Then we go to the parks, often on the launch. If you are not in a rush, it is a wonderful way to start the day and since you are staying on property, you don't have to pay the parking charge... use the valet and enjoy the wait in the lobby or go to the second floor and freshenup[ at Basin. Enjoy a drink in the lobby bar, too at the end of a crazy day!!!!

I'm confused by this statement. The parking charge where?
1) Theme park - correct, if you're on property you wouldn't have to pay in the theme park parking lot - which isn't what the question was about.
2) Valet parking? Even if you're staying at the resort, you still have to pay for valet parking - it's not free unless you are a DVC member valet parking at a DVC resort, and GF isn't one.

Just wondering - because I was confused! Are you getting free parking someway the rest of us don't know about? :)

Nope, I was incorrect. You don't get free valet parking at GF but you do get free regular parking.

Has anyone had a problem getting past the guard? I have only parked at a MK resort if I had reservations at a restaurant and I thought they checked our name against a list. If you don't have a reservation what do you tell the guard you are doing there?

Just make up something that sounds believable. And if you have AAA, they may pay your towing bill! :rotfl2:

Good luck.

Radical idea, but it works for some...including me.

But then, I like Hatuey too!

There was a poster with that name a few years back and I said I loved that name. The tag fairy picked up on that. It was an expression my grandfather used. I didn't even know it was a beer. Still need to try one.

Origin of the word -- name of a Caribbean Indian chief from the 1500's.

He was originally from Haiti, and was one of the first to resist the Spanish Conquistadors, actually traveling from Haiti to Cuba to attack them. He was eventually captured and burned at the stake. Legend has it that he was offered Heaven if he converted to Catholicism prior to being torched. He asked if there were Spanish in Heaven, and when being told yes, he declined, saying, "If there are Spanish in Heaven, I don't want to go there."

There's probably zero truth to that legend (there's no video on YouTube), but as compensation for being burned alive, somebody named a beer after him. Logically enough, it's now brewed in Baltimore.

Hatuey beer is pretty popular here in Miami. It's a little bitter to my taste, but if you drink enough of it, it's not that bad.

When I said pay the parking fee, I meant valet parking and if they ask, I twll them the truth... but since I have paid for valet, they really don't care. last time I stayed at AKVillas, they gave me a regular valet parking pass and told me to use it everywhere... at thier suggestion, not mine. I would not enjoy the day if I thought I'd come back to a towed car!!! With all the cost of a Disney trip, we spring for Valet if needed. I hate the large parking lot, but that's just me.
