Hey all - long time lurker, first time poster...

Curious if anyone has any recent experience valet parking at the Contemporary ahead of Rope Drop.

I understand the guards are pretty strict, especially on busy weeks (like the week before Easter when we'll be there).

Here's my plan - let me know what you think: (We are staying off-property)
- Arrive at CR around 7 am for 8 am MK open.
- Valet park (I'm OK paying a little extra for the service & convenience)
- Hit rope drop and MK rides in the AM before heading back to CR for lunch (ADR @ Chef Mickey's)
- Pick up car and go back to hotel for usual afternoon break & nap

We'll have 2 grandparents with us and so I am trying to minimize walking in the morning at TTC, along with the convenience of being right at the CR after lunch.

My biggest concern is getting turned away at the CR gate at 7 am because our ADR won't be until lunch.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Being turned away during the week before Easter is definitely a possibility. It's up to you if you want to risk it.

I know nothing about the odds of being turned away. However, if I were you, I would simply have a plan where everyone else still gets out and makes rop drop, even if the driver has to go back and make it in another way.
I had heard about using CR this way, but had not heard about rules as to who can park there. So, do you have to be a hotel guest or have an ADR there to use their parking at all?

Generally speaking, you do not. But if they are having parking lot capacity issues (like the kinds that can arise around major holidays) they will narrow down in stages who can park there, like so: visitors (basically, anyone), people who want to go to a restaurant w/o a reservation, restaurant reservation holders, that resort's guests only.

Are you planning to walk between the Contemporary and MK or take the monorail? The monorail will have 3 stops before MK. The walk is going to be longer than walking at the TTC (if you take the tram).

I would recommend valet at the Grand Floridian. The walk to the monorail is shorter as is the monorail ride itself first thing. You're on the monorail at that point so once you're done your CR lunch ressie, just hit the monorail and go back to GF.

Wouldn't the OP be more likely to be turned away since they won't have any reservation at GF? Or can a person valet at a resort with no room or dining reservations?

Generally you can valet park because you are paying for it. I can't guarantee that works 365 days but we have never been turned away. We always stay onsite so I don't know if that makes a difference.
