I may be over thinking since it is getting so close to departure time but Can I use valet parking if I have a rental car? What if he/she hits a pole or something am I still covered?
It's a fine line that I wouldn't cross...a valet is not a designated driver on your rental contract, so therefore you would technically be in violation.
That was my big fear on my last trip to Miami 2 months ago.
Seems like every single hotel in south beach, has a valet parking service..... I said "NO WAAYYY!!!! This is a rental!..... Luckly i found one hotel with a huge parking lot. I said to myself "thank god" and drove the car myself.
I was wondering the same exact question as you.... but i didnt take a risk.
don't worry. if something did happen, the valet's (hotel's) insurance would cover you. the tickets do say they arent responsible for damages, but if the CAUSED the damage themselves, they'd have to pay for it.
Funny story to add (totally related but different location completely)-
My family went to St. Maartin for New Years. Pretty much every tourist has a rental car there. There are few parking facilities/lots. New Years Eve we had to vallet park our rental at the casino next door to the restaurant, there was no place else to put it (literally).
Two days later, we stop at the grocery store and my dad puts a case of water in the trunk. We hear a huge THUNK and then my dad yells an explitive
Apparently our spare tire was MISSING we aren't sure if there wasn't one to begin with or the vallet guys stole it
When we returned the car, we didn't say anything and we were never billed for it either but it was definitely the joke of the vacation every time we passed the casino ("Hay, who stole my spare?")

As a practical matter, probably 50% of the cars you see at WDW are rentals, and they use valet parking all the time. What if something happens to your car? Two things, your own insurance should cover it (assuming you have auto insurance at home) and if it happened while the valet had it, they should cover it.
If something were to happen to the rental car your insurance company would most likely cover it and then they would pursue a claim against the valet's/hotel's/restaurant's insurance company to recover the costs.
The reason you have to list the one person driving the car is so that if something does happen the rental company doesn't have to spend a lot of time investigating who's responsible. The designated driver is contractually responsible whether he was driving or not. It saves them money and keeps the price of rental cars down.
I wouldn't worry about it. If you want to use the valet use the valet. The "designated rental car driver police" are not gonna get you ::cop:
